Plan Grandvalira’s seven-sector alpine area with an independent map, Funicamp and valley-base orientation, sector returns, dynamic passes and explicit seasonal and safety limits.
054MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore the independent community map and practical starting bases. Read the coverage limits and check current opening and access with the operator.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: an official map preview and deep link cannot be provided under the operator’s homepage-only linking terms; use the homepage menus to find its current plan. The independent map retains 150 named community downhill line segments and 66 passenger ways across the seven-sector area, including two Funicamp sections. These are mapping objects, not the operator’s piste or lift inventory. Separate Ski Canaro, Ordino Arcalís and Pal Arinsal are outside scope. Closed area outlines, anonymous connectors, unresolved aliases and learner equipment, park/children’s obstacle circuits, tubing, speed-skiing, obsolete and backcountry features are omitted. All generic grades remain grey. Community labels are not verified current operator aliases or a map-artwork comparison; geometry does not establish current opening, access, a guaranteed return or navigation.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Funicamp to Solanelles
Access from the Encamp valley; confirm the final lift descent and avoid assuming a ski return into town.
Access: Gondola to Forn
Operator-described learning terrain; adventure and summer facilities are separate.
Access: Valley gondola and chair access
Teaching and demanding marked alpine slopes; freestyle park excluded.
Access: Valley access and Espiolets area
Mixed learning and demanding marked terrain; choose an appropriate return.
Access: Bordes d’Envalira via Pla de les Pedres
Alpine access distinct from Sunset Park and its separate hours.
Access: Road-level ski base
Managed alpine terrain distinct from speed skiing, adventure and freeride.
Access: French-border valley access
Managed marked alpine terrain; night skiing needs separate current opening and ticket scope.
Encamp reaches Solanelles by Funicamp; Canillo reaches Forn by gondola. Soldeu, El Tarter, Peretol, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa are distinct access sectors. The approximate lower-Funicamp pin is only a planning reference; arrange your actual entrance and assistance.
The operator describes a connected alpine area, with Peretol linked toward upper Encamp by Pla de les Pedres. Check which marked connections are actually open and suitable for your ability before leaving the learning area or base. Separate Ordino Arcalís, Pal Arinsal and Ski Canaro are not ski connections.
Ask staff for the last usable connecting lift, a suitable marked return and the final access-lift descent or road transfer to your own base. The usual 17:00 slope closing time does not guarantee each connection, downhill carriage or a ski descent into Encamp town.
01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
Grandvalira alpine ski guide: independent seven-sector map, Encamp and Canillo access, Soldeu and Pas de la Casa orientation, tickets, services and sourced limitations.
Seven separate valley access sectors
Independent licensed alpine geometry
Conditional season and source-specific safety notes
Grandvalira’s operator describes one interconnected alpine area with seven access sectors: Encamp, Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu, Peretol, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa. This guide covers their managed downhill skiing and passenger access. Ordino Arcalís and Pal Arinsal are separate ski areas, even when a pass includes them; the independent Ski Canaro learning hill is also outside this map. Freeride, touring, Nordic routes, snowparks and adventure activities require their own permissions and planning.
Encamp reaches Solanelles by Funicamp rather than providing a guaranteed ski descent into the town. Canillo’s gondola reaches the Forn learning area; El Tarter and Soldeu combine teaching areas with demanding marked descents. Peretol is the Bordes d’Envalira access through Pla de les Pedres, distinct from its freestyle park. Grau Roig has a road-level ski base, while Pas de la Casa is the approach from the French border. Choose instruction and a suitable marked return before attempting a cross-sector day.
Conflicting sources: the operator’s slopes-and-sectors page advertises 140 pistes, while the status table lists 142 and 73 facilities. Both advertise 215 km, but these are published scope claims, not an independently reconciled current inventory. The 150 retained community downhill line segments and 66 passenger ways are mapping objects, not 150 pistes or 66 operating lifts.
The currently linked December 2025 ENSISA and SAETDE regulations use local green for very easy/beginner slopes, blue for easy or medium, red for difficult and black for very difficult. Conditions can make a slope harder. No generic community difficulty is converted to a local colour in this independent map; use current signs and staff advice.
The operator describes Funicamp as the roughly 6 km connection from Encamp to Solanelles, and a gondola from Canillo to Forn. Soldeu and El Tarter also have gondola access. At Peretol, Pla de les Pedres provides access toward the upper Encamp area. The independent map retains community passenger alignments across all seven sectors, including the two Funicamp sections; a section count is not the installation inventory or confirmation of commissioning.
Unconfirmed: current skiing, individual lift opening, usable sector connections and the last return services are not established by the status report retained from 21 October 2026. That page lists zero ski pistes but some non-ski facilities; sightseeing or a functioning access lift does not establish skiing. Ask staff which outward and return links are operating before leaving your base.
The operator publishes a conditional 4 December 2026–4 April 2027 winter season and usual 09:00–17:00 slope hours. Both dates depend on snow and weather. They do not establish a confirmed opening boundary for the place-point status map, and the 17:00 general closing time is not a promise that every connecting lift will carry you until then.
Keep the ticket for your actual activity, follow boarding instructions and leave surface-tow tracks and unloading points clear. December 2025 regulations require adult supervision for under-twelves, including boarding and disembarking assistance in the SAETDE area. Confirm any downhill passenger carriage with staff rather than assuming every chairlift offers it.
The operator places Grandvalira across the Encamp and Canillo parishes, with access points along the CG-2 corridor. From Spain, Encamp is the first sector; from France, Pas de la Casa is the first access, with the Envalira tunnel offering an alternative toward Grau Roig. Check Mobilitat Andorra for current border, road and winter-equipment requirements before setting out. Our approximate pin marks the community-mapped lower Funicamp reference, not a surveyed entrance, parking bay or accessible transfer.
The Encamp page identifies the L2 service from Andorra la Vella. The arrival page describes park-and-ride using the Funibus, with parking validation requiring that day’s ski pass and the parking ticket. Canillo, Soldeu and El Tarter have distinct parking arrangements; a same-day pass discount depends on the exact eligible pass and use. Select the base first, then verify the actual car park, charge, validation and last transfer.
Unconfirmed: a final dated 2026/27 Ski Bus, Funibus and Peretol shuttle timetable, last return and individual accessible transfer have not been verified. The undated pages describe regular services and retain an RN20 closure/provisional French-bus notice; these are not accepted as current disruption or guaranteed winter departures. Check the transport provider and operator before committing to a connection.
Conflicting sources: the arrival page refers to four Encamp communal park-and-ride car parks but names only three in its detailed list. Do not treat that number or displayed parking occupancy as a guaranteed space. Overnight stays require a specifically authorised and signed area; a normal ski car park does not establish camping permission.
The current day-pass page uses dynamic prices: select the exact date and category for the payable amount rather than relying on a fixed adult fare. Adult is 18–64, junior 12–17 and child 6–11, with age determined on the first day of use and proof required. The page lists free passes for children up to five and people aged 75 or more, collected at ticket offices; senior categories have their own conditions.
The detailed pass description includes Ordino Arcalís and Pal Arinsal for passes valid for at least two consecutive days. That ticket benefit does not make the three areas connected on skis. A beginner pass is restricted to the specified learning lifts and includes a gondola ride; a pedestrian pass is explicitly not valid for skiing. Half-day access is advertised from 13:00. Verify the precise usable lifts and the purchased product before travelling.
Online purchasers can collect eligible bookings using the QR code at machines in the sectors, while hotel delivery has advance-booking and arrival-day restrictions. The pass is personal and non-transferable. If buying ski insurance, arrange it before first use and check the actual policy, rescue territory and exclusions; a pass alone is not proof of insurance.
Conflicting sources: the day-pass page advertises a free reprint with insurance but its general legal paragraph says loss, theft or deterioration does not justify a duplicate. Confirm the actual purchased insurance/replacement terms before relying on either statement. Unconfirmed: your final payable tariff, capacity, refund entitlement and booking-specific insurance cover are not independently established; consult the live checkout and applicable conditions.
Use only marked pistes actually opened by the operator, with speed and spacing appropriate to visibility, snow, traffic and ability. Give priority to people below, check before entering or restarting, and avoid stopping in narrow or blind places. Wear a helmet; the currently linked December 2025 regulations require one for under-twelves and adult supervision for children. Report an accident to slope staff and identify yourself as a participant or witness.
Off-piste, freeride and undesignated circuits are unregulated scope where preparation and resort rescue are not guaranteed. A community line, nearby lift, protective sign or purchased pass does not grant permission. Do not cross closures, grooming work, avalanche-control areas or tow lanes, and do not improvise a pedestrian return over alpine terrain.
Conflicting sources: the December 2025 ENSISA rules allow designated evening touring until 22:00 but retain a 17:30–20:00 night-equipment clause; the operator’s general page also describes different sector-specific touring windows. This alpine guide grants no uphill, evening or closed-piste access. Obtain the current exact route, time and restrictions directly; snowparks, speed skiing, Nordic activity and touring are outside the independent map.
The operator lists five medical centres in Canillo, Soldeu, El Tarter, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa, with sector telephone contacts available through its homepage. Ask staff how to raise the local alarm, give the piste/marker location and keep yourself safe while helping. No guaranteed response time, helicopter availability or rescue insurance is inferred from promotional descriptions.
Unconfirmed: individual adapted lift boarding, equipment availability, evacuation compatibility and a step-free route from your arrival point require prior agreement with the school and lift staff. Published disability categories and discounts do not establish that every installation or descent is suitable.
The operator lists ski and snowboard schools, rental shops, lockers and food services across the sectors. Arrange a lesson at the sector where you will start, allow time for professional equipment fitting and collect the appropriate ticket. High-season equipment availability should be booked in advance; an undated rental “from” price is not a quote for your date, size or package.
The locker page explicitly labels its prices 2026/27. Funicamp storage is beside its ticket office, while several Soldeu, El Tarter and Canillo lockers are uphill; locker hours can finish before the general slope closing time. It says the latter sectors’ storage will be available to purchase from mid-November. Confirm your chosen locker’s capacity, access, booking availability and return deadline rather than treating a listed service as operating today.
The ski school advertises monoskis, dualskis and outriggers subject to arranging equipment and specialist instruction. It lists +376 753 191 for Soldeu/El Tarter lessons; general Grandvalira enquiries use +376 891 810. Select the school and medical contact for your sector rather than confusing a booking office with an emergency number.
Conflicting sources: the adapted-skiing page’s section headed Encamp, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa repeats Canillo, Soldeu and El Tarter in its body. Individual accessibility for the former sectors is not established by that copied paragraph. Confirm the exact entrance, toilet, restaurant, equipment and lift assistance for your party before booking.
Historical: Albert White’s genuine photograph shows the Soldeu village and slopes in March 2007; 12 March is its original upload date, not a verified camera date. The creator released it into the public domain. It is archive landscape context and does not establish present snow, lift footprint or the 2026/27 configuration. Public references use the operator’s permitted homepages; navigate their menus for the detailed pages checked in this guide.
Selected historical name and local-grade references only. The coverage note explains the unavailable current official plan. This list establishes neither the full inventory nor current opening or access.
