Plan Sinaia’s managed alpine terrain with an independent map, distinct lower bases, plateau and return orientation, exposed-mountain safety advice and clearly dated source limitations.
064MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore the independent community map and practical starting bases. Read the coverage limits and check current opening and access with the operator.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: the operator map page is linked separately, but a current artwork edition and lawful inline preview have not been verified; no operator artwork is reproduced in this guide. The inspected independent extent covers community-mapped named plateau downhill corridors, the marked intermediate return reference and passenger alignments to the two distinct lower bases. Abandoned installations, steep ungroomed Carp/Papagal/Târle, the restricted multi-use Pârtia Nouă way and anonymous fragments are omitted. Segments are not distinct official pistes. Generic difficulty stays grey. No current footprint, skiing, permitted access, continuous return or navigation is established.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Valea Dorului and Valea Soarelui
Exposed alpine terrain for skiers with some experience; confirm suitable open routes and the complete return.
Access: Marked intermediate return reference
Drumul de Vară has conflicting published length/end-point scopes. Steep ungroomed corridors are omitted from the independent map.
Access: Town cable car and Aleea Telegondolei gondola are separate
The lower ski descent does not reach the town cable car; check actual service, download and onward transport.
The town cable car leaves behind Hotel New Montana; Gondola Sinaia starts separately at Aleea Telegondolei 5. The checked daily update lists the lower gondola out of public service. Confirm the actual boarding point and any assistance before travelling.
The operator distinguishes Valea Dorului and Valea Soarelui on the high plateau from the steep face towards Cota 1400. Ask staff which suitable signed connections are open. Community geometry and historical pass scope do not establish a working through route.
Confirm your final descent or download from each level and onward return to your original base. The lower ski descent ends at the gondola area, not the central cable car. Closed pistes and winch-work zones must never be used as a shortcut.
01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
Sinaia alpine guide with independent map, separate bases, plateau and return advice, winch and avalanche warnings, and dated ticket and transport limitations.
Independent alpine map
Distinct lower boarding bases
Winch, avalanche and complete-return advice
Sinaia’s managed alpine area lies above the town in the Bucegi Mountains. The operator describes the high plateau around Cota 2000 as Valea Dorului and Valea Soarelui, with a separate steep face towards Cota 1400 and lower forest terrain. This guide covers managed alpine skiing; neighbouring Bucegi hiking, Nordic routes and unsupervised backcountry are separate.
The operator describes the plateau as suitable for skiers with some experience, including steeper sections that are unsuitable for a first lesson. It identifies Drumul de Vară as the intermediate connection towards Cota 1400 and Pârtia Nouă as the forest descent towards the lower gondola station. The ski descent does not continue to the town-centre cable-car base.
Conflicting sources: the operator’s practical explanation describes Pârtia Nouă as 3 km, while its piste table lists 1,800 m. The explanation gives Drumul de Vară as over 3 km towards Cota 1400, while the table lists 2,972 m and an end altitude of 1,650 m. These differing scopes do not establish a measured complete return or a currently open connection.
Historical: John Salatas’s genuine photograph was taken on 28 February 2009 at Sinaia’s ski area. The published original is the author’s corrected 2019 version. It provides archive mountain context, not current snow, installations or accessible terrain.
The town-centre Telecabina Sinaia leaves from behind Hotel New Montana. Gondola Sinaia has a separate lower base at Aleea Telegondolei 5, Cota 1000. Both corridors reach Cota 1400, from which the operator describes Gondola Carp and the upper cable-car section towards Cota 2000. Chairlifts and surface lifts serve the plateau; community alignments are not a guarantee of current installations or service.
Checked 31 October 2026: the operator’s daily 09:05 update lists public transport on Gondola Carp between Cota 1400 and Cota 2000, and the lower cable car from the town. It expressly says Gondola Sinaia and the alpine coaster are not operating for the public. This mountain-transport report does not establish skiing availability or a winter opening date.
Conflicting sources: the general tariff timetable lists the lower cable car from 09:00 on Wednesdays, its Wednesday column says 11:00, and a footnote says maintenance until 12:00. Treat these as inconsistent source instructions, not an assured Wednesday departure. The tariff table is headed 2025/26 and cannot establish the forthcoming winter timetable.
Unconfirmed: current skiing, exact 2026/27 ski-season dates, daily winter lift hours, open sector links and skier-download arrangements have not been established. Ask staff which suitable signed terrain and return transport are available, including the final departure from each level and onward travel to your original base.
The operator gives Aleea Telegondolei 5, Sinaia, Prahova, as its gondola and administrative location. The map pin is a planning reference near the community-mapped lower gondola alignment, separate from the town-centre cable car. Because Gondola Sinaia is listed out of public service in the checked daily report, verify your usable boarding base before travelling.
The operator’s municipal transport pages identify T3 and T4 access to the gondola, with T4 running between the railway station and Telegondola. Published T3 gondola extensions depend on lift hours. The separate city tariff page lists RON 3 for a single journey; its displayed last T4 time is a station-to-gondola departure, not a guaranteed last return from the mountain.
The parking page lists the gondola car park at the lower station with 450 spaces and RON 30 per car per day. These are published capacity and tariff claims, not availability or a reservation, and do not confirm that the adjacent gondola is operating. Check road/weather conditions and the actual outward and return service for your date.
Unconfirmed: a final 2026/27 winter bus/shuttle timetable, the last suitable return from your boarding base, parking availability and an uninterrupted accessible station-to-lift transfer have not been verified. Arrange the complete journey independently of any mountain ticket.
Historical: the operator’s tariff is explicitly labelled 2025/26. It lists adult one-day skiing at RON 210 on weekdays and RON 230 at weekends; the corresponding child 5–12 prices are RON 135/150 and the senior prices RON 170/190. Public and school holidays use weekend rates. These are previous-season examples, not confirmed 2026/27 prices or current offers.
The same tariff states that ski passes cover both gondola sections, both cable-car sections, Soarelui and Dorului chairs, the Soarelui and Călugărul surface lifts and the Pârtia Nouă ski lift. Point cards and individual pedestrian journeys are different products. Pass entitlement does not promise a particular lift or skiing operation.
Historical: the two- and three-day products are described as usable within 90 days of activation in the same season. Senior wording says over 65 with identification; children 5–12 need age evidence, and under-fives require a paying adult and age evidence. The disability page and tariff describe concessions subject to original documentation; confirm the applicable product and assistance separately.
Unconfirmed: current 2026/27 ski-pass prices, complete current refund/interruption terms, card deposit, insurance scope and the entitlement needed for your final download have not been verified. Check the actual dated product and conditions before paying; this guide makes no live offer.
The operator warns that strong wind, blowing snow and poor visibility can make the high plateau hazardous. Its steep-face explanation identifies rocks and avalanche risk and describes Carp, Papagal and Târle as demanding terrain associated with ungroomed skiing. Those steep or unresolved corridors are omitted from our conservative map; no off-piste access or safe passage is implied.
The piste page explicitly warns that grooming machines use long, tensioned winch cables that can be difficult to see and extremely dangerous. Do not enter pistes outside operating hours or when closed, and obey on-site signs and staff instructions. The independent map does not reproduce the operator’s winch-work zones and cannot identify a safe passage through them.
The operator’s skier code requires controlled speed appropriate to skill, snow, weather and traffic, care for people downhill, sufficient overtaking room and safe places to stop. It publishes national Salvamont dispatch on +40 725 826 668 for reporting an accident; explain the location and number of people needing help. A listed number does not establish a particular patrol response time.
Unconfirmed: any permitted ski-touring/uphill corridor or hours, after-hours access, a current grooming timetable, helmet age rule and individual mountain evacuation or adapted-ski arrangements have not been established. A pedestrian edge-of-piste rule does not grant recreational uphill permission. Confirm the whole return before ascending; the map is not a navigation or safety guarantee.
Transport Urban Sinaia gives +40 751 257 428 and contact@tusinaia.ro for its Aleea Telegondolei 5 operation. Use these official contacts to establish your correct meeting point and available mountain services. The administration/gondola address is not the same as the central cable-car departure.
The operator’s accessibility page recommends its gondolas and describes ramps, toilets and folding seats. It warns that the older cable cars have different emergency-evacuation constraints and describes a boarding aid. These are operator statements, not an independent accessibility assessment, and the checked lower-gondola service interruption remains relevant. Agree the exact equipment, assistance and evacuation arrangements before travel.
Unconfirmed: current named rental/ski-school availability, lesson and equipment prices, fitting and helmet stock, childcare, adapted skiing equipment, accessible toilets currently in service and the complete step-free boarding and return journey have not been verified. Arrange your lesson or rental directly with a suitable provider, including ticket requirements, mountain level, fitting and equipment-return deadline; do not assume these are bundled with a pass.
Selected historical name and local-grade references only. The coverage note explains the unavailable current official plan. This list establishes neither the full inventory nor current opening or access.
