Three native official winter maps with local legends

Rail arrival and current adaptive guest guidance

Three alpine areas and four selected pistes

Åre combines the Åre by and upper Åreskutan terrain, family-oriented Björnen and the separate Duved/Tegefjäll lift network to the west. Duved and Tegefjäll connect with each other; travel by road or bus between that network and Åre village. Cross-country tracks and backcountry terrain are separate from these alpine pistes.

The operator’s introduction advertises 89 runs, its quick facts 91 runs and 47 lifts. The four inspected winter tabs show 40, 15, 18 and 19 slope rows and 16, 7, 13 and 12 lift rows respectively. These differently scoped counters are not a reconciled inventory. This directory counts only four selected named pistes, rather than importing every map line.

The three native maps currently linked have 2025/26 filenames. Their legends identify green as very easy, blue easy, red intermediate and black difficult; dotted transport routes are separate symbols. Ullåmon 31 is green, Liten Röd 43 blue, Gästrappet 57 red and Störtloppet Lågzon 56 black. Retain those local grades, and check new signs or replacement artwork before skiing.

Lift types and staged 2026/27 opening

The native maps distinguish chairlifts, T-bars, button lifts, conveyors, the Bergbanan funicular, Gondolen and the Kabinbanan reversible cable car. A gondola and a reversible cable car are different installations. The winter status page lists the upper mountain and Åre village in separate tabs. All four tabs showed zero open winter lifts and pistes on 28 October.

The expanded 2026/27 tables plan Åre by for 11 December–2 May, Björnen 18 December–11 April and Duved/Tegefjäll 18 December–4 April. Gondolen H23 is planned for 18 December–25 April subject to weather and snow; the remaining Högzon lifts start 8 February. Only Kabinbanan and Tusenmetersliften H28 are scheduled for 26 April–2 May. Earlier opening is possible if conditions permit; none of these dates guarantees operation.

Until 7 February, VM8:an is scheduled 08:00–16:30, Bräckeliften 09:30–16:30 and other open village lifts generally 09:30–15:00. Bergbanan starts 18 December with 09:30–22:00 hours. From 8 February other open village lifts generally run 09:00–16:30. Björnen’s illuminated lifts and Duved’s early chair have separate hours. Lifts close at 15:00 on 24 December; weekend limits and holiday extensions appear in the full tables. Recheck the actual return connection.

Rail, last-mile transfer and parking

Åre station is in the village centre. The operator lists SJ and Snälltåget connections from Stockholm and southern Sweden, Norrtåg regional services and a Storlien change from Trondheim. Choose actual travel dates with the railway; no departure or station-assistance booking is verified here. Local buses and taxis provide onward travel, and Duved has its own station.

SkiStar Bus is included with a valid SkiPass, but the operator explicitly says the 2026/27 timetable will be published when ready. Do not use an older departure as this winter’s last return. Confirm your accommodation, ski-school meeting point and the final journey to Rödkullen, Björnen or Duved rather than assuming every lift is walkable from Åre station.

Free parking is advertised in Duved, Tegefjäll and Ullådalen. Rödkullen zone 1395 also requires registration in the Aimo app for free parking. Charged areas operate 09:00–16:00 at SEK 25 per hour, with the current maximum shown locally or in the app; short free visits still require check-in. The adaptive school’s current guest guide identifies disabled parking at Rödkullen and taxis to Totalskidskolan there. Agree wheelchair capacity, unloading, snow-surface travel and assistance directly; neither the rail arrival nor a listed parking space proves a continuous step-free route.

Dated SkiPass quote and restricted Area Pass

The inspected booking controls selected Åre, a start date of 18 December 2026 and three days. On 28 October 2026 the adult age 18–64 full SkiPass displayed EUR 181; the three-day Duved/Tegefjäll product displayed EUR 124. These are dated online quotes for those exact selections, not general day fares or a completed purchase. Prices and currency conversion can change. A new SkiPasscard carries an additional charge whose amount was not established.

The full SkiPass covers Åreskutan, central Åre, Björnen, Duved and Tegefjäll; the cheaper Area Pass is restricted to Duved/Tegefjäll. The selected products show children aged 0–6 free. Ordinary passes are personal; a separate Family Pass can be shared by two adults, with children’s passes separate. Lessons, specialist equipment and transfers need their own booking. Choose the correct area and dates and read the current conditions before payment.

Totalskidskolan’s 2026/27 member price list separately quotes SEK 1,150 for a weekday 1.5-hour lesson, including the guest’s SkiPass, equipment, adaptation and personal instructor. Membership and booking fees have their own terms. Confirm the package and companion arrangements directly instead of adding or substituting a general lift pass automatically.

Uphill routes, avalanche control and emergency contacts

Touring inside the ski area requires a valid SkiPass even when ascending on foot or skins. Follow only designated signed routes. Ullåleden and Leråleden are listed 09:00–20:00; Arenaleden, Tegeleden, Björnenleden and the 1000-metre route use normal ski-area hours. The separate Wednesday evening route has its own schedule and Gästrappet descent. These are route rules, not confirmation that any route is open today.

Closed routes remain closed at every hour. Do not enter blasting terrain or operational work areas; grooming, winch cables and snowmobile traffic remain hazards before and after public lift hours. Follow the specified descent, usually the ascent route in the evening unless expressly directed otherwise. The operator warns of serious avalanche terrain above the tree line and ice falling from lift cables. Off-piste tracks do not prove safety; check current forecasts and signs and use appropriate knowledge, equipment and guidance.

The current patrol page gives the Åre communication line as +46 647 13000 during opening hours and directs visitors to the nearest lift attendant. The touring page separately lists +46 647 13091; that discrepancy is unresolved. For an emergency, particularly outside operating hours, call 112. Do not rely on an old photograph, ticket availability or this guide as a live safety report.

Lessons and individual adaptive arrangements

SkiStar lists lessons and equipment services across the resort. Meeting points depend on the booked lesson and sector; use the confirmation rather than a general village address. The maps identify warming huts, toilets, restaurants, ski shops and first-aid points without guaranteeing that every facility is open outside winter hours.

Totalskidskolan is based at Rödkullen, west of the village off the E14. Its current 2026/27 guest guide describes individually fitted sitski, biski, skicart and standing-ski equipment, personal instruction and disabled parking. Contact the school at info@totalskidskolan.se or +46 70 641 42 22; its own current details differ from the different contact printed on SkiStar’s adaptive page. The guide lists taxi numbers +46 647 10022 and +46 647 50555, but accessible vehicle availability must be agreed for the individual journey.

SkiStar’s accessibility policy offers a free companion SkiPass on presentation of the required companion or medical certificate, collected at a destination SkiStarshop. A documented need can also qualify for a Priority Boarding pin arranged with destination customer service. These schemes do not establish suitability of every lift. Confirm equipment transfers, loading assistance, lesson availability, accommodation and transport with the relevant provider before booking.
