01

Choose your starting base

Dragon Plaza is the building reference for this profile. Choose the actual service, boarding point and sector arrival; the pin is not a surveyed entrance or guaranteed accessible route.

02

Understand the connections

Rainbow, Gold, Red and Green have conditional lift, piste and walking connections. Consult the operator’s course-transfer instructions, including the differing Rainbow Paradise classification.

03

Plan the return

Verify the open return to your chosen sector and the final lift. The native winter map is older than the current season, and no general uphill or backcountry permission is established.

Four sectors and the resort’s own difficulty scales

MONA YongPyong is an alpine resort on Balwangsan in Pyeongchang, separate from nearby Alpensia and the Olympic Nordic venues. Its Rainbow, Gold, Red and Green areas combine lower learning slopes, wooded runs and steeper competition terrain. The operator advertises 28 slopes and 29.1 km, but its English named table includes a sledding slope and terrain park and is not a complete, consistently scoped piste inventory. This guide counts only three individually checked named pistes.

The linked Korean winter PDF is explicitly 25/26, version 202511. Its four local classes are green beginner, blue intermediate, black advanced and red highest-level/expert. The online tables use seven classes, including beginner–intermediate, intermediate–advanced and extreme. These systems are not interchangeable with European colours. Yellow is a piste name, not a yellow difficulty grade. The selected rows below retain the native map’s own colours.

Rainbow Paradise is a long return from the upper mountain. The English overview and Korean status table call it intermediate, while the Korean course-transfer description calls it intermediate–advanced. Preserve that difference and choose terrain using current local signs and staff advice. The 25/26 map marks Silver, New Gold and the upper Rainbow 2 section as not operated; the current status page separately marks Silver Paradise, Silver and New Gold as winter nonoperating rows. Neither source establishes next winter’s available terrain.

Gondola, chairlifts and connections

The advertised 14 cable lifts include an eight-person gondola and chairlifts of several capacities; the two conveyors are listed separately. The native map distinguishes the lifts from the piste grading. Dragon Plaza is the gondola base, while Gold and Rainbow have their own lift areas. The status table labels the six-person Green-area lift New Green, whereas the English overview calls it Mega Green; use the actual installation and current signage rather than infer an extra lift.

The operator describes access from the main base toward Mega Green via the Yellow/New Yellow lifts and linking pistes, or by walking. The Gold connection uses the Red area and Red Paradise/Red–Gold link, or a separate road approach. Rainbow is reached by the Balwangsan gondola. These are route-planning descriptions, conditional on open lifts and connections; they do not promise a suitable return for every ability.

At this check the Korean board still says the 25/26 winter is closed, and all displayed ski lift/piste rows are closed. Its advancing day heading does not establish a new season. The schedule page supplies no confirmed 26/27 ski timetable. The FAQ’s usual late-November to late-March season, the retained 09:00–17:00 day headings and 09:00–16:00 skier-gondola note are not confirmed forthcoming hours. Sightseeing cable-car operation is a separate check. Recheck opening dates, last ascent, grooming breaks and the return before travel.

Rail, road and reservable winter coaches

The address is 715 Olympic-ro, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang, Gangwon. For rail travel, use Jinbu KTX station, then a separately checked last-mile transfer. The Korean operator page lists departures from Jinbu at 11:00 and 14:30 and from BlissHill Stay at 12:00 and 16:30, subject to rail changes, with no standing passengers. Its period starts “08.18” without a year and permits resort visitors with booking/ticket/member evidence; the English page instead labels the service from 19 February 2026 and says resort guests only. Confirm eligibility and the actual day. The operator estimates roughly 20 minutes/16 km by taxi and lists Jinbu Taxi on +82 33 335 0088; this is not a quoted winter fare.

The operator-linked Rideus portal advertises Seoul service from 27 November 2026 to 1 March 2027 and Incheon service from 7 December 2026 to 12 February 2027. The selected Hongdae/Sinchon → YongPyong search for 27 November lists adult one-way KRW 22,000 options: Hongik 05:25, Sinchon 05:30, Sports Complex transfer 06:20 and estimated resort arrival 08:50; the later option shows 08:50, 08:55, 09:45 and 12:15 respectively. These are dated public search results, not a completed booking or guaranteed arrival. Some boarding-stop cards show earlier pickups below the selected stop. Shuttle windows do not establish the ski season; the return is described as direct to selected city stops.

The selected Incheon → YongPyong search for 7 December lists adult one-way KRW 42,000, T2 09:00, T1 09:30 and estimated resort arrival 13:00. This differs from the static Use & Rates table’s T2 07:30/09:30 and T1 08:00/10:00; its later Seoul transfer is also 10:00 rather than the search result’s 09:45. The carrier table gives T1 platform 1C at Gate 1, while the resort page still says 9C. Confirm the actual selected itinerary, voucher, terminal, boarding point, ski baggage and return directly with the carrier. Its stated cancellation cut-off is 14:00 local time the day before departure; confirm the actual purchase terms. Child birth-year wording remains stale. No reservation or payment was made during this check.

For driving, the current Korean page routes arrivals via Daegwallyeong interchange and advises entering the exact accommodation or Dragon Plaza in navigation. Its general journey estimates do not describe snow/ice or current road conditions. Do not rely on the English page’s inconsistent highway numbering. Local Hoenggye/Gangneung information is separate from the reserved Seoul/airport coaches. Arrange a winter taxi or confirmed connection if the shuttle does not fit. No complete step-free rail–coach–snow transfer or adaptive lesson package has been verified: confirm wheelchair carriage, boarding assistance, final surfaces, suitable toilets and equipment individually with the resort and each carrier.

Current-season prices remain pending

The Korean lift/rental landing page explicitly says 26/27 information will be announced later. The English lift page and Korean rental tables are labelled 25/26. They are not current-winter prices, opening promises or bookable products. No dated 26/27 adult day-ticket or rental quote is established here; check the actual product and total cost before paying.

The English FAQ describes lift and gondola use within its lift products, but that general wording does not confirm forthcoming restrictions or sightseeing admission. Its child rule is age 12 and under, while the old English tariff labels children through 13. The older rental rules instead use elementary-school eligibility. Confirm the exact product’s age, ID, gondola/night entitlement, RFID/deposit, refund, collection and rental scope together. The sightseeing gondola fare is a separate product, and an advertised multi-resort season pass does not establish ordinary day-ticket conditions.

Closures, uphill uncertainty and distinct patrol contacts

The Korean patrol rules prohibit skiing in closed or entry-prohibited areas, approaching working snow vehicles, riding under the influence and disregarding staff instructions. Wear a helmet, choose terrain appropriate to your ability, control speed and give priority to the person downhill. Avoid stopping in the middle of a piste; the operator tells people resting or walking down to use the edge. That downhill conduct instruction is not permission to climb or skin uphill.

No current designated uphill route, permitted touring time or general boundary/backcountry access authorisation was established in the inspected ski sources. Obtain explicit operator advice for any proposed ascent or boundary crossing and respect all closures. A backcountry-rental price list, an ordinary forest-walk map or visible tracks does not grant winter ski access. This guide describes alpine pistes and supplies no approved touring itinerary.

For an accident, alert nearby patrol/lift staff promptly with the sector, piste and location. The current patrol page gives headquarters +82 33 330 7362, control +82 33 330 8253 and Rainbow +82 33 330 7195. The winter map separately gives the medical room as +82 33 330 7379 and general ski information as +82 33 330 8252; these are different functions. Weather, snowmaking, maintenance and grooming can change access; check the actual operating report and staff instructions on the day.

Dragon Plaza services and individual assistance

Dragon Plaza is the main ski-service reference: the operator lists equipment and premium rental on 1F, clothing rental on 2F and personal ski lockers on 3F. The native map places the ski and snowboard schools, ticketing, patrol, medical room and lockers separately. The English facilities page has an inconsistent patrol-location description, so use current on-site signs and the map rather than treating every entry as one counter.

The FAQ says English and Chinese lessons require advance reservation. Ski school is +82 33 330 7373, snowboard school +82 33 330 7366, equipment rental +82 33 330 7375–7376 and general resort enquiries +82 33 335 5757. Confirm the date, meeting point, ability, equipment sizes and what the lesson includes. Listed schools or rentals do not prove current stock, an adaptive programme or the suitability of a particular lift.

For an assisted visit, agree the full arrival and lesson plan directly, including transfer vehicle, snow approach, boarding procedure, support person and toilet location. No universal accessibility or ski-pass concession is claimed. The displayed Kalatpadai panorama is genuine March 2013 archive context, released under CC0; its filename says 10 March while its metadata says 16 March. It does not establish present facilities, snow or operation.
