Natural-snow alpine terrain above Lake Bohinj, with an upper-station base, Zadnji Vogel connections and a long valley return that needs its own opening check.
017MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore mapped pistes and lifts, compare the official plans and choose the right starting base. Check current opening separately.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Community map for planning, covering mapped Vogel pistes and passenger lifts within the reviewed scope. Coverage is incomplete, including no mapped Šija chair in this snapshot. Grey pistes have no confirmed local colour. Check the official plan and actual opening; geometry does not grant access.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Valley tramway from Ukanc when operating; separate local chair/drag lifts.
Upper-station services and separate children’s park; blue Brunarica and red Storeč are distinct pistes.
Access: Marked lift/piste connections from the upper station when open.
Higher terrain with local blue/red alternatives; choose routes and final lifts for your ability.
Access: Marked descents into Zadnji Vogel and separate gondola return when open.
Lower sector and conditional red valley return; a closed valley run can require tramway descent.
The Ukanc 6 valley station is separate from the upper ski base. Confirm cable-car operation and the bus/parking approach; the marker is not an accessible entrance.
Brunarica/Storeč, Orlove glave, Konta/Kratki plaz and Šija have distinct lifts and blue/red routes. Zadnji Vogel has a separate gondola. Choose open connections for your ability.
Žagarjev graben needs a separate opening check. The 7.5 km map descent combines runs 10 and 13; if closed, confirm tramway descent and final boarding.
Native operator-linked image: local grades, separate cableways, facilities and conditional valley return. Older edition, not current operation.
Link checkedClosed-piste/fence/piste-walking restrictions and open-slope patrol scope; no general uphill permission.

A practical guide to Vogel’s native winter map, local grades, cableways, Ukanc arrival, older ticket/transport editions and current maintenance/access uncertainty.
Native 2023/24 winter plan and local blue/red grades
Ukanc tramway and separate Zadnji Vogel gondola
Maintenance and older ticket/transport editions kept explicit
Historical: Vogel is an alpine ski area above Bohinj in Triglav National Park, dependent on natural snow. The operator advertises 22 km of pistes and lists 13 numbered runs, plus separate snow-park and children’s-park areas. These totals describe different things. Its linked winter plan is labelled 2023/24; it is orientation rather than evidence of current opening.
Conflicting sources: Vogel uses local blue and red grades. The English page calls red medium, while the map’s English distance key calls the red total advanced. Preserve the local colour and assess the terrain individually. The inspected plan identifies Brunarica (1) and Orlove glave (4) in blue, Storeč (2) and Žagarjev graben (13) in red. The 7.5 km map descent combines runs 10 and 13; the table gives Žagarjev graben alone as 6.8 km. Neither is an independently measured route.
The upper station and Brunarica/Storeč lead into Orlove glave and Konta/Kratki plaz terrain, with Šija higher up. The separate Zadnji Vogel gondola returns from the lower sector toward Orlove glave. The valley descent needs its own opening check. Children’s and snow-park areas have separate conditions; their presence does not make every sector suitable for beginners.
The valley access is the reversible aerial tramway from Ukanc, with operator-listed lower/upper stations at 569/1,535 m. It is distinct from the ten-person circulating Zadnji Vogel gondola within the ski area. The installation list also includes Brunarica and Orlove glave four-seat chairs, the Šija single chair, Storeč/Konta/Kratki plaz drag lifts and a children’s carpet. Its nine-installation total includes the valley tramway and carpet.
Unconfirmed: At the 28 October check, the homepage announces extensive maintenance and expected closure until 1 December 2026; exact resumption will be announced. This is not a confirmed ski opening. The actual winter board shows 0/9 lifts, 0/22 km and all rows closed; ski-area hours are a slash. Other headers retain 3/9 and summer-service text. The 08:00–18:00 tramway heading and individual lift rows are not a confirmed 2026/27 timetable. Obtain the actual opening notice and last ascent/descent; some lifts stop earlier than the wider area.
Conflicting sources: The valley station is at Ukanc 6, 4265 Bohinjsko jezero. The marker identifies the mapped lower station, not a surveyed entrance or accessible parking space. The operator distinguishes free parking below the station from paid P5/P6/P19 sites shown on its English page at EUR 3/hour. General terms use broader free-parking wording, so check the signed site and current tariff. Roadside and private-property parking are prohibited.
Historical: The operator names Bohinjska Bistrica railway station and Vogel križišče/crossroad bus stop, with onward buses through Bohinjska Bistrica and a direct Ljubljana line. The actual Arriva search for Bohinjska Bistrica ŽP/RS → Vogel križišče/crossroad on 2 January 2027 returned no direct connection. This one future-date result does not establish winter cancellation or exclude an arranged transfer. Recheck the correct station stop, both directions and actual day. The railway timetable website displayed a security-verification block; no current train itinerary is asserted.
Historical: The linked ski-train poster is stored under January 2024 and advertises return train, ski bus and skiing without a current validity period. The destination’s actual ski-bus PDF covers 2025/26 and allows cancellations for bad weather or ski-area closure. Neither establishes 2026/27 departures, combined fares or a guaranteed connection. Confirm the last bus and final station approach. No complete step-free train–bus–tramway–snow route is verified: arrange wheelchair carriage, boarding assistance, surfaces, toilets and equipment individually with the operator and carriers.
Historical: The checked English and Slovenian winter pages and actual tariff PDF still cover 2025/26. The PDF is dated 30 October 2025 and lists an adult day ski pass at EUR 45: historical context, not a 2026/27 quote. The stated season-pass period is 1 December 2025–9 May 2026. No dated forthcoming day-ticket fare or ski-season boundary is established. Sightseeing offers and the old train package are separate products.
Conflicting sources: The winter page says ski passes include valley cable-car and ski-lift travel; the children’s park alone needs only cable-car admission for visitors arriving from below. Its general note says nonseason products are Vogel-only, but the actual PDF separately lists multi-day Vogel + Kranjska Gora products. Confirm the current exact product’s area, age/ID rules, ski versus sightseeing use, chip deposit, collection and refunds. The old disability discount proves neither current eligibility, companion concessions nor physical lift suitability.
The maintenance notice and closed winter board take priority over retained hour headings. Operator terms prohibit skiing closed pistes, crossing protective fences with or without skis, skiing through forest or mountain pine, skiing on drag-lift tracks, and walking or sledging on pistes. Cross lift tracks only at marked places and follow patrol, staff and on-site signs. Mapped lines do not grant access.
Unconfirmed: The mountain-safety page discusses touring and avalanche/weather hazards without establishing a designated uphill corridor or ascent timetable. No current general uphill permission is verified. Obtain advice for the exact proposed route/day and respect closed-area and piste-walking prohibitions. This alpine guide supplies no approved touring or off-piste itinerary. Check current local weather and avalanche information separately; the general warning is not a current danger rating.
Rescue and first aid in the terms operate during lift hours and supervise open groomed slopes; that does not promise boundary or outside-hours coverage. The native map prints emergency number 112. Alert nearby staff with your actual piste/sector and location. Confirm Žagarjev graben separately; when it is closed, arrange the permitted tramway descent and last boarding.
Unconfirmed: The operator lists Ski Finžgar and Alpinsport lessons/rental near the upper station. Finžgar directions explicitly use stairs, the contact list differs between older/newer entries, and rental PDFs remain 2025/26. Alpinsport also lists a separate Ribčev Laz agency. These descriptions do not confirm stock, winter reopening, an adaptive programme or step-free access. Agree the exact meeting point, language, equipment and date.
Operating/ticket information: +386 4 572 97 21, info@vogel.si and the tariff page’s blagajna@vogel.si. Reservations: booking@vogel.si. The service page lists Alpinsport’s Vogel contact +386 41 832 076 and info@alpinsport.si; verify Finžgar’s current number where entries differ. Restaurants, huts and shops have separate hours. Arrange any assistance through the whole journey.
