Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.

Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.

Unconfirmed: the operator says its piste map will be updated for 2026/27; a current edition and lawful preview basis have not been verified, so no official artwork or preview is included. Independent OSM linework covers conservative lower-to-upper managed-alpine corridors. The dismantled gondola, unconfirmed replacement lifts, private service track and doubtful park/route identities are omitted. Retained older names and numbers are community labels, not verified current aliases; gaps and changed footprints remain. Generic grades stay grey. This is not the resort inventory, commissioned infrastructure, guaranteed access/connection, opening status, uphill permission or navigation.

HOW THE AREA CONNECTS

Understand the sectors.

01

Skistua and lower learning terrain

Access: Confirm the current base, meeting point and signed access during construction.

Lower managed corridors and the community-mapped Kalvetråkket area.

02

Byheisen and Puddertransporten corridors

Access: Check dated operating notices and a suitable open return.

Lower and middle mountain linework; names and refs are not a current official inventory.

03

Upper Fagernesfjellet

Access: Replacement gondola, Nordlysheisen and Linken Express are omitted pending commissioning/alignment evidence.

Conservative community piste linework with explicit upper-access gaps; no promised circuit.

01

Confirm the usable Skistua base

Skistua is the town-side approach, but the new gondola changes base arrangements and the operator lists both 57 and 61. Confirm the actual ticket/rental or lesson meeting point before arrival; the pin is approximate.

02

Check connections through the developing network

The season page plans a new upper hub, intermediate gondola station and Panorama connection toward Byheisen. Commissioning is unconfirmed. Ask staff for an open suitable route; the independent map omits the dismantled and unconfirmed replacement lifts.

03

Arrange a safe descent and last journey

Check the actual lift-specific last ascent, permitted return and final transport before going up. The planned general hours do not guarantee a downhill passenger trip or connection. Respect the 3–11 April skiing closure and all work barriers.

Plan managed alpine terrain above Narvik

Narvikfjellet, also marketed as Narvik Ski Resort, rises above Narvik and Ofotfjorden in Nordland. This guide covers managed alpine skiing, from lower learning terrain to steeper mountain descents. Freeride, touring, terrain-park features and neighbouring Swedish resorts are outside its map scope. Choose a marked open descent with staff; local signs and ability govern, and generic community-map difficulty is not converted into Norwegian piste colours.

Conflicting sources: the operator overview lists 22 descents, including 17 groomed and five ungroomed, over 16 km. Visit Narvik lists 16 slopes and six lifts, while Fnugg lists 21 descent rows. These published scopes do not establish a reconciled current inventory; community way segments are not piste totals.

Historical: Dennis Tang's photograph is a view from Fagernesfjellet on 12 April 2009. It shows the fjord and surrounding town landscape, not today's snow, the rebuilt installations or an open ski route. Unconfirmed: current skiing availability is not established by the reviewed evidence. Fnugg's season label and spring reports are old; its zero-open counters do not establish a fresh operational observation. The place point remains unknown outside a separately confirmed closure period.

Separate construction plans from commissioned ski access

The 2026/27 season-pass page announces a new gondola base and intermediate station by the children's area, a six-seat Linken Express, a replacement Nordlysheisen T-bar and a new upper hub. It describes a planned green Panoramaløype from the upper gondola station toward Byheisen. These are attributed development plans, not accepted operating connections or mapped current installations. The old gondola and mountain restaurant remain closed until the replacement opens.

Conflicting sources: Forte Narvik's 2 September 2026 construction update anticipates gondola operation in December and a 5 minute 33 second ride; the operator now schedules January 2027 and describes eight minutes. Neither is evidence of commissioning. The official calendar provisionally lists skiing from 3 January to 2 May 2027, weekdays 10:00–20:00 and weekends/public holidays 10:00–16:00, dependent on construction progress, December cold and snowmaking.

The operator lists 12:00 openings on 23–24 January and 20–21 March, and a skiing closure on 3–11 April 2027 for national championships. Unconfirmed: installation-specific last ascent, downhill passenger return and the exact commissioned network are not verified. Recheck station notices and an open suitable return before ascending; restaurant and sightseeing hours do not extend skiing access.

Choose the actual base and confirm both journeys

Visit Narvik directs visitors uphill through Skistua from the town centre and identifies road approaches via E6/E10, rail through Sweden and Evenes as the nearest major airport. Winter walking is uphill and conditions dependent. Use Reis Nordland's date-and-time journey planner for the outward and final return, then confirm the last transfer to your actual ticket, rental or lesson base.

Conflicting sources: the operator gondola page gives Skistua 57 as its address but Skistua 61 as the lower-station meeting point, while the redevelopment creates a new base and intermediate station. Unconfirmed: the exact usable 2026/27 entrance, winter parking tariff/capacity, step-free transfer, bus stop, departure times and final return are not established here. The approximate community-map pin is an orientation reference, not a surveyed entrance or accessible route. Check signs and current operator instructions before travelling.

The Arctic Ski Resorts page describes shared-pass travel between Narvik, Riksgränsen and Björkliden; Visit Narvik requires advance booking for a guaranteed skibus place. Unconfirmed: a dated 2026/27 cross-border timetable, luggage rules and guaranteed onward/return connection have not been verified. Arrange each leg before buying a journey-dependent pass; a regional partnership does not mean that all three resorts operate together.

Match the dated product and read its disruption terms

The ticket page offers three consecutive hours from first gate passage, one-day and consecutive multi-day products, plus selected-days options. Existing Axess cards can be reloaded; a new card is listed at NOK 100. The operator says evening skiing and gondola access are included in ski passes. Children aged 0–6 ski free with a helmet and a valid card. Confirm the exact date, eligible category and operating scope before payment.

Conflicting sources: the ticket page says unused tickets are not refunded for weather or technical faults, but Narvik section 4.7 of the booking terms describes limited proportional disruption remedies and excludes day, half-day and hourly cards. The ticket page's group threshold is over 20 people, while section 4.1 says over ten. The season page says children under six need an activated ticket, while the ticket page and terms use ages 0–6. Ask the seller which conditions apply to the exact product; no legal remedy is determined here.

The season page distinguishes a Narvik season pass from an Arctic upgrade for the Swedish partner areas; the annual pass is temporarily suspended during redevelopment. Unconfirmed: a current dated adult day-pass or season-pass checkout amount, availability and cross-resort transport schedule have not been verified. Fnugg's undated price table is not used as a current quote. Separate rental, lessons and accommodation from lift access.

Respect closures, construction and winch operations

The operator prohibits access outside opening hours for skiing, touring and other activities, with exceptions for Fjellveien and the children's area by the Ski Shop unless signs close them. Entry during snowmaking and entry into or near grooming areas are prohibited. Winch cables can be concealed, suspended or move unpredictably and can cause fatal injury. Do not treat an exception or mapped line as permission through construction, a closed slope or a work zone.

Keep control, adjust speed to traffic and conditions, give way to people below, avoid stopping in blind or narrow places and follow signs and patrol instructions. The operator lists a patrol on duty when open. Check the current meeting/emergency contact locally; Fnugg lists patrol +47 900 38 464. For a medical emergency call 113. Do not enter closed terrain to obtain a shortcut back to town.

Unconfirmed: no current permitted uphill itinerary, off-piste safety clearance or suitable assisted ski journey has been established. Freeride marketing and avalanche-equipment rental do not grant access or prove safe conditions. Varsom provides regional avalanche warnings and planning information, which require local assessment and do not replace patrol directions. This guide and community linework are not navigation.

Reserve equipment, instruction and individual assistance

The operator lists ski and snowboard rental for children and adults, including different ability categories. Contact skiutleie@narvikfjellet.no or +47 905 40 088 for fitting, collection and return. Confirm the exact discipline, sizes and booking conditions; the Narvik rental terms require identification and an adult or guardian, and restrict rented equipment to marked groomed slopes.

Conflicting sources: the ski-school introduction describes lessons from age three, while its linked alpine/snowboard product descriptions and group lessons say age eight. Confirm the actual product's minimum age, language, ability group and meeting point before booking. A general family listing does not establish admission to a particular lesson.

The operator plans Slingsby restaurant for December 2026 and Skard at 656 m for January 2027. These announced openings are not current service availability. Unconfirmed: dated restaurant hours, rental stock, lesson places, accessible toilets and an individually suitable loading/unloading and return journey are unverified. Ask +47 905 40 088 or post@narvikfjellet.no about the exact arrangement, including companions; a wheelchair-friendly marketing label is not a completed individual access assessment.
