Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.

Access: Reached from the upper cable-car station; served by the four-seat Gąsienicowa chairlift.
The bowl faces the High Tatras and offers sustained steep terrain. Its lower section narrows. Do not treat the separate Gąsienicowa ski trail through the park as an ordinary prepared valley piste.

Kocioł Goryczkowy
Access: Use the marked connection from the summit area, subject to its actual availability; served by the two-seat Goryczkowa chairlift.
A separate, demanding bowl with changing terrain. Below its chairlift base, the Goryczkowa return continues towards Kuźnice only when officially open.
01
Choose your starting base
Begin at Kuźnice 14. Private cars cannot freely reach the lower station; plan the municipal bus or walking approach and arrive before your reserved cable-car departure.
02
Understand the connections
Gąsienicowa and Goryczkowa are separate demanding cirques, each with its own chairlift. The Gąsienicowa park ski trail is distinct from a prepared valley piste.
03
Plan the return
The Goryczkowa valley return is a separate opening decision. Check it and the last cable-car descent before committing to your final run.
Kasprowy Wierch is a high-mountain ski area inside Tatra National Park above Zakopane. Its two principal downhill runs, Gąsienicowa and Goryczkowa, are described by PKL as black pistes for experienced skiers. They are served by separate chairlifts, while the main aerial tramway brings visitors from Kuźnice via Myślenickie Turnie. The easier Goryczkowa return starts below the demanding bowl: it does not make the summit a beginner area. Terrain availability depends on natural snow; neither snowmaking nor floodlit evening skiing is provided. Plan the day around the actual open sector, lift timetable and confirmed way back to Kuźnice.

Terrain, ability and choosing a sector
The two bowls are the core ski experience. PKL classifies both upper pistes as black, and specifically warns that the easier nartostrada below Goryczkowa does not offer a beginner route from the summit. Snow hardness, visibility and the state of the connecting traverse change how demanding a day feels. A sightseeing trip with a child or a beginner is a different plan from skiing these bowls.
Gąsienicowa and Goryczkowa can open on different dates. In January 2026 PKL opened Gąsienicowa while requiring a cable-car return because Goryczkowa and the lower return remained closed; the latter routes opened later that winter. Those dated reports explain the layout, not today’s snow conditions. All current choices must follow the open-route board.
Three lift installations and the journey from Kuźnice
The main installation is an aerial tramway operating in two stages, with a change at Myślenickie Turnie. It is a reversible cable car, not a circulating gondola lift. PKL’s FAQ gives approximately 15 minutes for the journey; this is travel time rather than a guarantee about queueing, boarding or the reserved departure.
The four-seat Gąsienicowa chairlift and two-seat Goryczkowa chairlift serve their respective bowls. A ticket for the main cable car, a ski pass for the chairlifts and a seasonal pass have different scopes. Confirm the product, boarding reservation and permitted cable-car return before purchase. The two-stage cabin journey does not mean there are two separate main access installations.
Historical: a scoped source check on 2 November 2026 found PKL’s homepage, updated at 04:04 local time, reporting both ski bowls and the valley return closed. The cable-car maintenance notice ends 6 November, which is not a confirmed ski-opening date. The independent map observation expires within 24 hours; this dated snapshot does not guarantee a later operating state.
The practical base is the PKL lower station at Kuźnice 14 in Zakopane. PKL states that ordinary private cars cannot drive up the restricted Kuźnice road. It suggests leaving the car in Zakopane, including the Karłowicza area or Bronisława Czecha, and using municipal transport. Use the city’s current timetable rather than an old bus number: the published routes have changed between seasons.
For a reserved departure PKL asks visitors to be at Kuźnice 15 minutes beforehand. Its accessibility information describes an adapted station and cabin, a platform lift and staff help, plus designated parking arrangements. Arrange assistance directly with PKL. Accessibility of the transport and terrace does not establish that the ski pistes or mountain paths are suitable for a particular mobility need.
Tickets, 2026/27 seasonal-pass prices and exclusions
Price check dated 27 October 2026: the published multi-resort PKL seasonal pass costs PLN 2,499 normal or PLN 1,999 reduced for purchases from 1 October to 30 November. From 1 December the published regular prices are PLN 2,799 and PLN 2,299. The displayed age bands are 16–64 and 5–15/65+, with eligibility governed by the operator rules. These are seasonal-pass prices, not a daily Kasprowy ski-pass quote.
This seasonal pass covers the listed PKL resorts but excludes the main Kasprowy cable-car boarding reservation, called a Miejscówka. PKL publishes a separate PLN 45 online reservation for eligible pass holders after ski operations start. The card deposit is PLN 10. A current 2026/27 day-pass tariff was not verified here; use the official shop for the exact product, availability and final payable price. Buying a pass does not guarantee a particular piste will open.
Ski touring, park boundaries and daily safety checks
PKL’s rules permit uphill ski touring only on routes specifically designated and admitted for that use by both PKL and Tatra National Park. They distinguish one-way touring routes, the signed two-way ski trail from Kuźnice through Nosalowa Przełęcz towards the Gąsienicowa base, and the downhill Goryczkowa nartostrada. An open cable car or a visible track is not permission to ascend a downhill piste or leave the permitted network.
Use the current TPN ski-touring rules and tourist bulletin together with the valid TOPR avalanche bulletin. This directory supplies planning context, not an avalanche assessment or an off-piste route. TOPR lists 985 and +48 601 100 300 for mountain assistance, with 112 as an emergency alternative. The absence of a published avalanche bulletin is not confirmation that all winter hazards are absent.
The lower station has PKL customer service and ticket facilities; the summit station has a restaurant and viewing terrace. The operator’s public contact is +48 18 20 20 300 and bok@pkl.pl. Use it for assistance, ticket-product questions and the latest operational arrangements. A restaurant visit or terrace access does not confirm that chairlifts or pistes are operating.
Rental, instruction and equipment servicing should be arranged with a named provider before the ascent. No current on-mountain hire inventory or beginner lesson package was verified in this review, so the listing does not promise either. Prepare for a high-altitude, exposed setting rather than relying on facilities in Zakopane to be immediately available on the mountain.
