Lifts

Unconfirmed: the operator map page is linked separately, but a current artwork edition and lawful inline preview have not been verified; no operator artwork is reproduced in this guide. Independent community linework covers conservative named managed-alpine corridors from the southern village bases to upper Happo-One and Sakka/Kitaone. Neighbouring areas, uncertain parallel installations, anonymous connectors, terrain parks, Omusubi/Urakuro and technical/private/disused/proposed/backcountry objects are omitted. Gaps remain incomplete; generic grades stay grey. This is not the resort inventory, an opening report, a guaranteed connection, uphill permission or navigation.

HOW THE AREA CONNECTS

Understand the sectors.

01

Nakiyama and Adam/Shirakaba

Access: Match the actual lower base, school meeting and ticket product.

Separate southern village starts; the gondola reaches the Usagidaira area.

02

Usagidaira, Kurobishi and upper lifts

Access: Use only open suitable marked connections and check the return before ascending.

Upper managed alpine terrain with demanding bumps; backcountry/freeride omitted.

03

Sakka and Kitaone

Access: Match the Sakka starting base and current open traverse/return with staff.

Lower beginner terrain and a distinct northern sector; no automatic circuit guarantee.

01

Choose Nakiyama, Adam or Sakka before arrival

These are separate starting bases. Match the school/rental meeting point, parking and ticket scope; the map pin is at the lower Adam gondola, not every entrance. Check winter transport for the actual date.

02

Check an open connection before changing sector

The operator describes upper Panorama/Usagidaira access and Skyline toward Sakka with a Kitaone traverse. Ask staff for a suitable open marked connection and return. Community geometry omits uncertain links and does not promise an easy continuous circuit.

03

Plan your own base return and final bus

Current first/last ski-lift times are unconfirmed. Check station notices and a suitable descent or staff-confirmed passenger return before going up. The linked May–November sightseeing shuttle is not the winter timetable; confirm the final winter journey separately.

Choose terrain from your own starting base

Hakuba Happo-One is a managed alpine ski area in Hakuba, Nagano. Nakiyama, the Adam gondola/Shirakaba base and Sakka are distinct starting points. The operator describes beginner terrain at Shirakaba and Sakka, intermediate Panorama and Riesen Slalom, and demanding bumps at Usagidaira and Kurobishi. Local words and signs govern; these descriptions are not converted into another country's grading system. Omusubi, Urakuro, backcountry, touring and the separate jumping stadium are outside this guide and map.

Conflicting sources: the mountain overview advertises 21 lifts and 16 courses, while the lift report has 19 named installation rows and the conditions report divides terrain into 33 rows, including tracks and facilities. These are different published scopes, not a verified inventory. The overview calls the combined Riesen Grat–Kurobishi–Skyline–Sakka descent 8,000 m, but also places 8,000 m under Skyline alone; no individual Skyline length is accepted here.

Historical: Ski Mania's photograph shows Happo-One on 5 January 2013. It is genuine archive landscape context, not evidence of today's snow, current installations or an open descent. Unconfirmed: current skiing availability is not established by the reviewed reports. The lift page is dated 6 May 2026 with blank times, and the trail page 19 April 2026; fresh zero-snow observations do not resolve skiing status. The place point therefore remains unknown.

Keep ski access separate from a conditional season

The operator lists Adam gondola, Alpen and Grat quads, plus named chairlift corridors at Nakiyama, Shirakaba, Kokusai, Kurobishi and Sakka. Panorama lies by the upper gondola area; the operator describes Skyline leading from Kurobishi toward Sakka, with a Kitaone traverse. Choose an actually open route suitable for your ability with staff before changing sectors. A line on the community map does not establish a continuous circuit or an easy return.

The 2026/27 season-pass terms schedule opening in December 2026 and closing sometime from March to early May 2027, subject to conditions. The day-ticket tariff spans 1 December–5 May; these price periods do not guarantee operation on either boundary. Unconfirmed: exact opening/closing dates and installation-specific first/last ski services have not been established. Check the dated reports and station notices; the old March temporary shuttle or resumption notice is not today's service.

Unconfirmed: a guaranteed downhill passenger journey, accessible loading and a suitable assisted route on a particular lift have not been verified. The transport terms tell worried passengers to ask staff for assistance and allow weather-related changes. Discuss the exact installation, equipment and return before buying; a disability discount or a summer sightseeing service does not establish physical ski access.

Plan the winter journey and the final return separately

The operator outlines Tokyo–Nagano by Hokuriku Shinkansen with an onward Hakuba bus, or rail via Matsumoto to Hakuba. Its road approaches use Nagano IC and Olympic Road, Azumino IC via routes 147/148, or Itoigawa IC via route 148. Published journey times are estimates. Choose the actual Nakiyama, gondola or Sakka base and allow for equipment collection; the village and gondola pin are not every entrance.

Historical: the shuttle page reviewed on 30 October lists 30 May–3 November 2026 and ties use to return sightseeing-lift travel. It is not a 2026/27 ski shuttle timetable. Unconfirmed: the coming winter's exact local/long-distance departures, last return, fares, reservations and ski-luggage arrangements have not been established. Check a date-specific carrier journey in both directions and your accommodation transfer before booking; do not rely on the old Sarukura-line diagram as a winter guarantee.

The parking page identifies free areas 6 for Nakiyama, 8 for Sakka and 9 for Kokusai/Sakka. It prohibits winter parking 18:00–06:00 for snow clearance and generally prohibits overnight stays. Historical: paid-parking B/C text still ends on 8 May 2022 despite an October 2026 page update. Unconfirmed: current paid rates, available spaces and a snow-cleared step-free route from a chosen stop/space remain unverified. Follow current signs and ask about individual assistance.

Choose the actual ticket product and age category

The 2026/27 page quotes a new adult one-day web ticket, ages 18–64, at JPY 6,400 for 1–18 December and 23 March–5 May, and JPY 9,800 for 19 December–22 March. Child ages 6–17 are JPY 3,200/4,900. Peak adult top-up is JPY 9,500, and requires an existing IC card; new purchases exchange a QR code at a ticket machine. Senior 65+ tickets are counter-only with photo ID. Check the selected product and category before payment.

The peak Happo Debut adult one-day ticket is JPY 4,900 and covers only its listed seven lower lifts, not Adam or the whole mountain. Half-day, one-ride, season, climbing and regional passes have different scopes. Day-ticket early-bird text runs through 30 November, whereas the 5 September season-pass announcement ends its early application period on 15 November. A spring season pass begins 1 March; the spring day tariff begins 23 March. Do not interchange those products.

Conflicting sources: the current ticket page says no refund for weather-related non-use, while Article 36 of the linked general transport terms refers to separate refund rules when lifts cannot operate and excludes temporary weather suspensions. The season-pass terms separately exclude cancellation/refund. Unconfirmed: the precise remedy for a particular product and disruption is not settled here; check the applicable current conditions with the seller before paying. These are published quotes, not a checkout, stock guarantee or legal determination.

Stay within open managed terrain and follow patrol

The published ski-area terms prohibit entering closed areas, entering outside operating hours and hiking up anywhere not designated by the operator. Unconfirmed: no current designated piste-uphill itinerary or permitted uphill time window was established. Do not treat the general instruction to walk at a course's edge as permission to climb any piste. Stay clear of grooming machines, obey staff and closures, keep control and give downhill users room.

The safety page describes yellow/black boundary poles, yellow-topped internal restrictions and avalanche assessment that can delay or interrupt lifts and slopes. Conflicting sources: the linked English terms describe closed-area poles as yellow/red, while the safety page says yellow-topped. Ask patrol when a marking is unclear; neither wording authorizes entry. Omusubi/Urakuro and designated backcountry gates are excluded here. The page's freeride description is not clearance, a route recommendation or permission to cross ropes.

Report accidents to patrol or resort staff and give the marked location. The operator recommends accident/liability insurance and charges for search/rescue in backcountry or closed terrain. The currently linked English terms take effect on 21 November 2020 and say the Japanese version prevails; both linked English filenames returned identical bytes. Check current instructions and insurance cover rather than assuming free rescue. Happo Information Center is +81 261 72 3066 for general enquiries, not a verified dedicated emergency line.

Arrange lessons, equipment and assistance at the right base

The operator lists Evergreen International Ski School and Hakuba Happo-one Ski & Snowboard School, with different lesson products and meeting arrangements. Confirm discipline, ability, age, language, equipment and meeting base directly. Its rental directory lists Rhythm Happo, Spicy, Central Snowsports, Woody and other separate businesses. Allow fitting time and return to the shop if boots or equipment do not fit; a lift ticket does not include a lesson or rental package.

The dining guide places Cafeteria Yeti and the Usagidaira café at Usagidaira Terrace, Panorama dining by its slope and Snowplaza Sakka outlets at the Sakka base. It gives Usagidaira Information Center as +81 261 72 2258; Happo Information Center is +81 261 72 3066. The operator notes that menus, prices and hours can change. Confirm collection, food and the final return rather than assuming a restaurant's displayed hours extend lift operation.

Unconfirmed: current rental stock, lesson places, dated winter restaurant opening days, accessible toilets and an individually suitable assisted journey have not been verified. Discuss mobility, loading, unloading, equipment, toilets, companions and return transport with the operator and selected provider before booking. The ticket page's disability/one-companion concession does not establish accessibility. A pin, an old photograph and a general service listing cannot guarantee an available facility.
