01 / EVENT OVERVIEW

What defines this edition.

A practical guide to the main classic edition, entry documents, dated fees, race services and provisional transport. Times use Europe/Rome, CET, UTC+01:00. Historical: the photograph shows the Säge chapel in Dobbiaco on 12 March 2016; it does not show the race or current conditions.

01
Planned point-to-point scope

The current rules name a Dobbiaco airport start and a Cortina finish. The organiser’s general written route follows the former Dolomites railway via the Dobbiaco and Landro lakes, Carbonin, Cimabanche, Ospitale and the tunnels towards Fiames. This gives broad geographic orientation only. Unconfirmed: the final 2027 alignment, exact finish location, measured ascent, feed stations, medical posts and control positions are not established. No downloadable route or operator artwork is reproduced.

02
Older route variants on the same page

Historical: the track page first announces a 49th-edition 26 km two-lap Nordic Arena snow-shortened course, then describes an airport–Cimabanche–Dobbiaco return, and later the traditional route towards Fiames in Cortina. Its map and profile downloads are labelled 2026. These are different retained scopes, not a verified 2027 course. Do not navigate or infer public access from them.

03
Classic technique and timing

Saturday is classic only. The rules prohibit changing skis, require all controls and deny an automatic right to a clear track when overtaking. The disposable timing chip is on the back of the bib: a backpack must be worn underneath and the start detection is required. Keep the bib after finishing for participant services. Follow officials and final equipment instructions.

04
Controls and retirement

The rules remove skiers who miss controls or are overtaken by the closing relay from the classification and require them to turn the bib. Although they describe further travel at the skier’s own risk, that wording is not a safety recommendation to continue. Follow medical and course-closure decisions and tell officials if withdrawing. Unconfirmed: the final 2027 withdrawal transport, emergency contact and cutoff timetable remain to be checked.

FORMATThe 50th edition lists a 42 km classic race on Saturday 6 February 2027, starting at Dobbiaco military airport and finishing in Cortina d’Ampezzo. This guide covers that main race only; the separate 35 km skating race on Sunday 7 February and the combined classification are outside its scope.

The 2027 rules admit entrants born in 2011 or earlier, with written parental authorization for anyone still a minor on race day. Admission remains subject to FIS/FISI nationality and anti-doping restrictions. Italian citizens must supply a specialist sports-medicine certificate for Nordic/cross-country skiing valid on their race day, uploaded by 2 February 2027; a 2026/27 FISI card does not replace it.

ON SITE

The organiser-linked ENDU booking page was actually rendered and lists 6–7 February 2027 with separate Italian and foreign 42 km classic categories. Conflicting sources: the organiser’s registration page simultaneously displays closed, open and last-minute messages. The live categories support planning, not guaranteed capacity, admission or payment success; no registration or personal data were submitted.

Choose the 42 km classic category appropriate to your nationality; skating and combined entries are separate. Entry becomes complete after payment and required documents. The rules include a bib, timing, race pack, technical/medical services, refreshments, clothing transport, reserved participant shuttles, lunch and a medal for an in-time finish. Individual photographs and medal engraving are paid extras. Gluten-free meals must be indicated during registration.. The published classic fee is EUR 85 from 1 September through 30 November 2026, then EUR 100 from 1 December through 2 February 2027; office entry is EUR 110 if available. 04 / SPECTATOR ACCESS

The pin is not the gate.

The point uses the Commons object coordinate of the Säge chapel in Dobbiaco. It is a broad host-area reference, not the military-airport start, Grand Hotel race office, car park, finish or accessible entrance. Follow the final organiser’s venue and boarding instructions.

The rules place bib collection at the Grand Hotel in Dobbiaco from Friday to Sunday morning. Show the registration confirmation in paper or digital form; ID alone is insufficient. Collection for someone else requires their confirmation. Unconfirmed: exact 2027 office, waxing, bag-drop, lunch and award hours are not published in the checked new programme header. The detailed January 2026 timetable remains historical; allow separate time to reach the airport start.

The 2027 shuttle page requires reservations and lists Cortina schools area to Dobbiaco station before racing, with departure times still to be determined. It also lists Dobbiaco station to Cortina schools area, 12:00–16:30 approximately every 30 minutes. Unconfirmed: all those times remain provisional because the page says the timetable is being finalized; the point-to-point race’s post-finish return, finish-to-boarding transfers, late-finisher service and reserved seats are not established. Confirm both directions and a fallback before booking travel.

Conflicting sources: the shuttle page retains a sentence saying the races start and end in Dobbiaco and finish in Cortina, while the 2027 rules describe a Dobbiaco start and Cortina finish. The detailed programme’s January 2026 shuttles serve the old Dobbiaco-finish course. Neither fragment is treated as final 2027 routing. A shuttle reservation does not itself cover travel from the station to the start.

Use organiser arrival and parking instructions for the exact race-day access plan. Unconfirmed: current parking allocation, closures, spectator-bus fee and capacity, train connections, finish access, step-free shuttles, accessible toilets and adaptive participation are not established. Do not assume general road access or the archive-photo point is a race entrance.

Use the organiser’s numbered clothing bag and load it onto the designated vehicle at the start; collection is at the finish. Avoid valuables: the rules exclude responsibility for them. Uncollected bags require an appointment after the stated collection period, and shipping is charged. Keep your bib for buses and lunch. Contact the organiser about dietary or individual assistance requirements.
