Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.

Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.

Unconfirmed: the operator map page is linked separately, but a current artwork edition and lawful inline preview have not been verified; no operator artwork is reproduced in this guide. The independent ODbL map covers inspected community downhill and passenger-lift alignments in the managed Valdesquí basin. Area polygons, Park Center tow, unmatched Escuela III and Loma del Noruego lifts, the Pepe Arias/Del Prado name mismatch and unsupported Pradera IV/short Ecologica geometry are omitted. Community names and generic difficulties are not verified local grades; piste lines stay grey. Mapped segments are not the operator’s 29 pistes or 15 lifts and prove no opening, grooming, access or safe return. The snapshot clock is the canonical OSM API HTTP response Date, not an Overpass replication timestamp.

HOW THE AREA CONNECTS

Understand the sectors.

01

Base and Pradera

Access: Station buildings, lower chairs and learner area.

Confirm lesson base, open beginner terrain and pass scope.

02

Collado and Bola del Mundo

Access: Separate chair alignments above the basin.

Check the actual open sector connections and last boarding.

03

Upper Valdemartín

Access: Community-mapped upper drag-lift alignments.

Confirm visibility restrictions, suitable descent and final return.

01

Start at the station buildings above Cotos

The access road ends at the station parking. Information is in the Cerradillas building beside the main ticket offices; the school building is the operator’s group meeting point. Locate rental, lesson meeting place and an open suitable learner area before boarding. The map point is not a verified accessible entrance.

02

Check the basin’s sector links before ascending

Independent geometry separates the lower learning context, Collado and Bola del Mundo chairs and upper Valdemartín drag alignments. Follow only the signed open link suitable for your ability, and ask staff before changing sectors. Unmatched lift names and specialist features are omitted; a drawn connection is no promise of an open descent.

03

Leave time for the earlier shuttle and individual lift closures

Unconfirmed: the actual day’s shuttle activation, passenger download and complete last return are not established. The indicative Cotos shuttle ends from Valdesquí at 16:00, before the published piste closing; the conditional Madrid transfer lists 17:00. Confirm the specific lift, signed descent, equipment return and actual transport before ascending.

Choose the managed Guadarrama basin

Valdesquí is a managed alpine ski and snowboard area in Rascafría, on the northern slopes of Bola del Mundo and Cerro de Valdemartín in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Start at the road-end station base above Puerto de Cotos. The operator uses green, blue and red local piste categories; these do not translate automatically into another country’s grades.

The school and Pradera area provide the lower learning context. The independent community geometry extends across Collado, Bola del Mundo and the upper Valdemartín alignments. Check the signed open connections and a descent suitable for your group before changing sectors. This guide covers managed alpine terrain; it does not grant touring, off-piste or snowpark access.

Unconfirmed: a complete current match between operator names, grades and community alignments has not been established. The operator advertises 29 pistes and 15 lifts, while mapped ways may split one descent into several segments. All independent piste lines remain grey; neither the segment count nor the published marketing totals establish today’s operating inventory.

Check individual lift hours and the actual ski day

The operator’s technical table lists six chairlifts, six drag lifts, a rope tow and two learner conveyors. Normal published operation starts at 09:00, with individual chair or drag-lift closing times of 16:00 or 16:15. The upper Valdemartín arrangement depends on visibility. Confirm the specific lift and its last boarding locally rather than applying the latest time to every sector.

Historical: the detailed station report is updated 31 March 2026 at 17:00 and shows the station, parking and pistes closed, with the shuttle unavailable. The homepage repeats zero-open counters. These retained rows are not a fresh observation of skiing on 2 November 2026.

Unconfirmed: exact 2026/27 skiing opening and closing dates, current skiing and passenger download are not established. The November-to-May tariff calendar is not a guaranteed operating season. The information page lists pistes until 16:30, which does not extend lift boarding beyond each lift’s own closing time. Confirm a suitable signed return before ascending.

Plan the Cotos road, parking and complete return

The operator describes road approaches through Puerto de Navacerrada or Rascafría to Puerto de Cotos, then the resort access road and principal parking. Check the road authority’s actual winter restrictions and carry the equipment required for your journey. A location pin is an orientation point, not a parking reservation, safe-road report or verified step-free entrance.

The arrival page lists public bus 691 from Moncloa to the station parking and a rail approach to Cotos, about 2.8 km away. Its free Cotos–Valdesquí shuttle is limited to skiers and snowboarders. The separate Madrid transfer is conditional on official activation, enough skiable terrain and favourable weather; the advertised package is not a daily public bus.

Unconfirmed: dated 2026/27 bus and rail connections, shuttle activation, parking availability and an accessible end-to-end transfer are not verified. The shuttle page’s indicative last departure from Valdesquí is 16:00, earlier than the published 16:30 piste closing; the conditional Madrid transfer lists 17:00. Confirm your actual service and leave time for equipment return. Do not assume either service runs because its timetable remains online.

Match the pass to terrain, age and insurance

The day-pass table alongside the 2026/27 tariff calendar lists adults aged 13–64 at €47 in high or low season, or €41 on the skier day. With less than 11 skiable kilometres it lists €36, or €32 on the skier day. A Pradera-only pass is €26. Children aged 3–12 require age identification and have separate rates. Confirm the day’s available terrain and applicable tariff before paying.

The afternoon page lists €28, reduced to €23 with less than 11 skiable kilometres; the FAQ places afternoon access from 12:30. A season pass, lessons, rental, touring pass and night product have separate conditions. The day page lists optional accident insurance at €4.50, to be bought before using the pass; compulsory passenger cover is not general piste-accident insurance.

Conflicting sources: the separate Wednesday promotion lists adult €39 and child €34 day passes, while the day-pass table shows €41 and €35. The adaptive page also lists €37 for a day and €414 for a season, unlike the main tables’ €41 and €450 disability tariffs. Confirm the applicable price and required documentation; no lowest-price offer is asserted.

Unconfirmed: the tables label adults through age 64 and veterans as older than 65, leaving the precise age-65 category unresolved. Confirm that case and the exact season applicability of undated promotion, insurance and package terms. A calendar label does not guarantee that every published sales product is available.

Respect closure, grooming and medical limits

Obey closures and the operator’s FIS conduct rules: control speed, give downhill users space and choose terrain within your ability. Children under three may not enter pistes. The school building at the base is the operator’s meeting point; agree it with your group and ask staff how to reach patrol. Wear a helmet and suitable winter and sun protection.

Touring is a separate controlled activity, restricted to the operator’s authorised itineraries and hours. Never ascend or descend a closed piste. Outside the permitted window, grooming winch cables can cross the slopes and create a lethal hazard. A touring pass gives no lift entitlement. The independent map is not a touring itinerary, night-access permit or emergency navigation tool.

The operator describes patrol rescue and first medical assistance for snow-sport accidents, with treatment and evacuation decisions made by its staff. Off-piste rescue has separate charges starting at €150, and unrelated consultations are charged. Optional insurance has its own hospital-authorisation conditions; do not assume all evacuation or hospital costs are covered.

Unconfirmed: a current direct patrol emergency number, exact day’s medical availability and an individual accessible evacuation plan are not established. Obtain the local contact and assistance arrangements before boarding; use 112 for an emergency. The operator prohibits unauthorised drones, including around the parking and adjacent protected area.

Historical: on 9 October 2026, the operator reported storm-related mud and rock falls affecting several resort areas. Unconfirmed: their current condition and clearance have not been established; check access and staff instructions before travelling.

Arrange equipment, lessons and individual assistance

The rental service lists skis, boots, poles, snowboard equipment, helmets and storage at the base; passes can also be purchased there. Confirm equipment size, fitting, protective equipment and the actual collection and return time. Published stock categories are not a booking or a guarantee that suitable equipment is available.

The ski and snowboard school offers individual, family and freestyle instruction and specialist adaptive instructors. Its page says lessons are allocated in person in arrival order, subject to availability; confirm your ability, group age and meeting place. Contact escuela@valdesqui.es or +34 91 852 39 52 for individual assistance requirements.

Customer information is in the Cerradillas building, left of the main ticket offices. The information page lists rental and repair services, a medical centre, La Pausa and El Mirador cafés and lost property. General enquiries go to valdesqui@valdesqui.es or +34 91 852 39 52. Check which facilities are actually operating on your day.

Conflicting sources: the rental-service page retains children’s pass-and-equipment promotions of €39/€44, while the rental promotion page shows €43/€49. Confirm the complete applicable quote rather than combining tables. Unconfirmed: dated current lesson and rental prices, accessible parking, boarding support, adaptive equipment and the full return chain require individual confirmation; specialist instruction alone does not establish step-free access.
