Managed alpine skiing above Qusar in Azerbaijan’s Greater Caucasus, with distinct hotel-side approaches and upper mountain connections. This independent guide combines a scoped community map with practical pass, lesson, arrival and safety information while keeping present skiing separate from pedestrian activities.
081MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore the independent community map and practical starting bases. Read the coverage limits and check current opening and access with the operator.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: the current official ski-map edition and lawful remote-preview display basis have not been verified. Operator artwork is omitted; this independent community map has not been compared with an inspected operator plan. Scoped OSM downhill centre lines and passenger lifts cover Zirvə, the Shahdag Hotel corridor, upper mountain and eastern community connections. A detached unidentified northern carrier, technical/private/proposed/disused/backcountry features and non-downhill activities are omitted. Raw source names and unconfirmed grades remain community references; mapped ways are not the resort inventory. No current skiing, safe return, access permission or navigation is guaranteed. The original canonical API HTTP response Date supplies the snapshot clock, not an Overpass replication timestamp. The operator’s Shahdag winter-map landing page is linked separately as an external source; no operator artwork is reproduced here.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Community chair and platter alignments beside Zirvə Hotel.
Separate lesson/hire/base planning; no current opening inferred.
Access: Community gondola corridor and higher chair connections.
Check every onward carrier and the complete return before ascent.
Access: Gondola source name 24 and associated downhill ways.
Community reference only; no inspected operator-map match or current service claimed.
Match the hotel, lesson, hire collection and ticket before travel. The point marks the remotely reviewed northern endpoint of community Zirvə lift way448257712; it is not a surveyed entrance or assisted-boarding guarantee.
Community geometry links hotel-side approaches with higher terrain and the eastern alignment named 24. These source references are not an operator-map match. Ask staff which onward carriers and descents are open; a pedestrian ticket or a promotional lift total does not establish a complete ski circuit.
Unconfirmed: the last operating connection, open descent or permitted download to your chosen hotel or base has not been established. Ask staff for the complete return before taking an upper lift; a general closing hour is not a guaranteed last return. Plan the separate taxi/transfer and Gusar-to-Baku connection too; the undated arrival page’s last-bus reference is earlier than some resort activity hours.
01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
Independent Shahdag guide with a licensed community map, distinct starting bases, source-scoped tariffs and clear current-skiing, timetable and return limits.
Distinct hotel-side starting bases and upper connections
Source-scoped pass, school, rental and safety guidance
Independent community map and genuine 2014 archive context
This guide covers the managed Shahdag alpine ski area above Qusar/Gusar in northeastern Azerbaijan. The operator locates the tourism centre at kilometre 29 of the Gusar–Laza road. Mount Shahdag’s 4,243 m summit and the national park are broader geographical context, not the resort’s highest skiing point or a permitted route from the lifts. Skimo, ski touring, pedestrian rides, the simulator and non-ski attractions remain separate activities.
The official resort overview advertises a 1,435–2,552 m elevation range, 45 km of skiing and 37 slopes, divided into eight green, 17 blue, eight red and four black. These are attributed local categories and operator totals. The independent community map does not measure or reproduce that inventory, and generic OSM difficulty tags are not converted into those colours.
The scoped community geometry shows the Zirvə-side approaches, the Shahdag Hotel gondola corridor and the upper mountain connections, together with the eastern alignment named 24. It retains source names without claiming that they match an inspected current operator plan. A detached unnamed northern carrier is omitted, along with non-downhill activities and technical, private, proposed, disused or backcountry features.
Unconfirmed: the operator labels skiing and snowboarding “Opening soon”, but no exact 2026/27 skiing start, closing date or current open-piste report has been established. Open pedestrian and summer activities do not establish skiing.
The operator’s overview describes three gondolas, ten detachable four-seat chairlifts, two platter lifts and five carpets. The community data separately names Kanat yolu Zirvə Otel, Kanat yolu uzun - Zirvə Otel, Kanat yolu qısa - Zirvə Otel and Kanat yolu Şahdağ Otel, with numbered upper/eastern alignments 22 and 24. These are community references, not a verified current carrier list, capacity or numbered operator-map match.
Conflicting sources: the resort overview and homepage advertise 20 lifts, while the pedestrian-lift page states 19. Their scopes and update dates are not reconciled, so no single accepted current total is asserted. Counting mapped ways would not resolve the difference.
Conflicting sources: the safety rules give passenger transport as 09:00–17:00 local time, while the skiing activity page gives ticket sales 09:30–17:30 and entertainment hours 09:30–17:45; the school lists 09:00–17:00. These are different service statements, not a confirmed winter lift-by-lift timetable. Follow posted facility hours and staff instructions rather than treating the later entertainment time as ski access.
Unconfirmed: the last operating connection, open descent or permitted download to your chosen hotel or base has not been established. Ask staff for the complete return before taking an upper lift; a general closing hour is not a guaranteed last return.
The official contact address is KP29 Gusar–Laza road, Kuzun, Qusar district, AZ3827. The arrival page places the centre 212 km from Baku and directs the final approach from Gusar along the Laza road. Choose the hotel or lift base that matches your lesson, equipment collection and ticket; the location point marks a remotely reviewed OSM Zirvə lift endpoint, not a surveyed entrance or a reserved parking space.
The undated arrival page lists Baku International Bus Terminal to Gusar buses every half-hour from 07:00 to 18:00, at 6.49 AZN, with Gusar-to-Baku departures from 07:00 to 17:30. It quotes an approximate 10–15 AZN taxi from Gusar station to the resort. Those are operator-published references, not independently confirmed travel-date departures or a through ski-bus service; allow separately for the mountain transfer and the earlier return bus.
The operator lists Go2shahdag as a transfer partner and gives +994 10 389 01 38. Its resort overview identifies several parking areas, including Welcome Plaza, Main Plaza, Zirve and Shahdag hotels and gondola parking. Arrange the actual drop-off and collection; a general parking list does not establish road conditions, charges, capacity or proximity to your chosen lift.
Unconfirmed: current winter road equipment requirements, parking fees, a dated transfer/last-bus timetable and a continuous step-free boarding chain have not been established. Confirm the actual travel date, vehicle arrangements, equipment carriage and individual assistance before departure.
The undated official ski-pass page lists an adult one-day skier pass at 45 AZN and a child aged 5–11 at 35 AZN. It lists half-day skier passes at 35/30 AZN and a partial-opening product at 30/25 AZN. These are distinct products; a discounted partial-opening tariff does not prove that any piste is operating today.
The same page lists consecutive two-day passes at 72/56 AZN and separate flexible products, including five days out of seven. Its season-pass figures are 750/450 AZN. No current season label, complete inclusion/refund conditions, half-day start time or child-under-five rule is established by that table; obtain the actual dated product terms before payment. Lessons and equipment are separately priced.
Conflicting sources: the ski-pass page lists pedestrian lift 2/3 access at 20/15 AZN for adults/children, while the pedestrian-activity page lists lift 3 at 18/12 AZN. The latter also describes a separate panoramic 2–6–1–5 package. Do not substitute pedestrian prices or routes for a skier pass, and ask the sales desk which current product and carriers apply.
Unconfirmed: the displayed tariffs’ winter validity, full refund/closure terms, card/deposit charges, exact age-boundary entitlements and the current purchasable ski-pass scope have not been established. No bookable offer or availability is inferred from the undated tables.
The operator’s safety rules require a protective helmet, suitable equipment and obedience to signs, closures and staff. Use only permitted open terrain, control speed for ability, visibility, snow and other users, give those downhill room, look before entering a piste and avoid stopping in narrow or obscured places. Closed slopes and unauthorized lift access are prohibited; no general uphill, night, off-piste or touring permission is inferred.
The safety rules make the official school the authorized provider of instruction. On chairlifts, remove pole straps, board and leave only at designated points, use the safety bar as instructed and never jump or leave during a stoppage without staff authorization. Children under 1.25 m need an accompanying adult under the operator’s seating rules.
The operator requires prior discussion of disability-related transport and assistance; specialist sit-ski or similar equipment needs certification or operator inspection. Unconfirmed: the complete carrier-specific assisted journey and evacuation arrangements for an individual visitor have not been established. Arrange acceptance, assistance and the return before buying or boarding.
Report accidents to lift staff or ski patrol and assist within your capabilities. The medical-services page lists OKI Shahdag first aid, injury assessment and requested medical transport, with +994 51 597 16 47 and +994 51 741 31 33. These are published clinic contacts, not a verified 24-hour mountain-rescue dispatch guarantee. Ask staff for the current patrol/emergency procedure before skiing; keep clear of machinery and maintenance operations.
Conflicting sources: the dedicated school page lists Shahdag Hotel & Spa, LakeSide Hotel and Zirve Hotel, while the skiing and resort-overview pages list Pik Palace instead of LakeSide. Confirm the actual meeting point and operating branch when booking; do not assume similarly named hotel services are interchangeable.
The school page offers individual and group ski/snowboard instruction, with groups of four to eight, and lists reservations@shahdag.az plus +994 77 450 07 21, +994 77 277 32 01 and +994 77 450 07 04. The undated adult two-hour individual lesson is listed at 130 AZN; it does not establish lesson availability, a complete package or included ski-pass/equipment costs.
The rental page has separate Sport System tables for Zirve Hotel and Shahdag Hotel & Spa. Skis, boots, helmets, clothing and lockers are separate rows with different branch/category prices. Confirm the precise kit, fitting, hygiene/inspection, security/deposit, collection and return arrangements; do not add rows into a guaranteed package or infer a rental duration that is not stated.
The main official contact is +994 12 310 1110 and reservations@shahdag.az. The operator lists hotel, food and children’s services, but their presence is not a winter opening guarantee. Unconfirmed: actual ski-school/rental availability, current dated terms and individual childcare/adaptive arrangements remain unverified. The genuine 23 December 2014 photograph is archive context, not today’s snow, carrier layout or opening report.
Selected historical name and local-grade references only. The coverage note explains the unavailable current official plan. This list establishes neither the full inventory nor current opening or access.

05 / PROFILE BASIS & SOURCES
This profile is based on current information published or supplied by the place or its operator and the dated sources linked below.
Initial complete ten-scope public-source review. Conflicting totals, hours and school locations, undated tariffs, distinct pedestrian status and unconfirmed present skiing/return remain explicit. No operator approval, field survey or artwork comparison claimed.
The hero image is an authentic photograph by Gasim, reused under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license.
Historical: Gasim’s genuine 23 December 2014 photograph shows snowy Shahdag pistes and a chairlift above clouds. Original pixels are retained with responsive display crops; it does not establish current snow, carrier layout, access or skiing.
