Lifts

This independent ODbL map covers the community-mapped managed downhill terrain around Saas-Fee village, Morenia, Felskinn, Mittelallalin, Spielboden, Längfluh and Plattjen. The underground Metro Alpin funicular is not drawn by this aerial-lift/downhill renderer; use the sourced orientation and operator map for that essential transport connection. Hannig sightseeing, neighbouring Saas-Grund and Saas-Almagell, unnamed unverified lifts, zip lines, abandoned/private/technical ways and backcountry or freeride lines are excluded. Community names, including seasonal or misspelled labels, are not a verified current operator inventory. Unconfirmed local colours remain grey. OSM segments and outlines are not a piste count, current opening, grooming, access permission, continuous return or navigation. Snapshot time is the original canonical OSM API HTTP response Date, not a replication timestamp. Unconfirmed: the printed artwork edition and lawful remote preview have not been established; use the verified operator map page separately from this independent community map.

HOW THE AREA CONNECTS

Understand the sectors.

01

Village, Spielboden and Längfluh

Access: Check the actual boarding base and signed open suitable connections.

Village practice and wider managed terrain are separate from current high-glacier opening.

02

Felskinn, Morenia and Mittelallalin

Access: Use the operator’s current transport chain and Metro-specific last journeys.

High alpine glacier terrain; current named public scope is limited and weather dependent.

03

Plattjen

Access: Check the dated winter timetable and live report independently.

Separate local sector; no present opening is inferred from its mapped lines.

01

Starting base: confirm the day’s boarding point

The pin is the community Alpin Express lower station. The live report checked on 7 November lists Alpin Express I and II open. The November plan separately directs Monday–Thursday access via Spielboden 1/Felskinn and Alpin Express 2. Parking and the bus terminal remain separate; confirm the actual meeting and collection point.

02

Connections: Felskinn, Morenia and Mittelallalin

Metro Alpin connects Felskinn and Mittelallalin; its underground funicular is omitted from this aerial-lift/downhill renderer. The operator map and live instructions supply that transport reference. Morenia and the glacier’s named current pistes do not imply open village, Längfluh or Plattjen returns.

03

Return: Metro limits are only one part of the chain

Through 5 February the Metro timetable gives last ascent 15:45 and last descent 16:00. Unconfirmed: final boarding of every other lift, permitted download and a complete suitable or assisted village return are not established. Agree all onward connections with staff before ascending.

Terrain: Saas-Fee village, Morenia and the high glacier

This guide covers the managed alpine ski and snowboard area above Saas-Fee in the Swiss canton of Valais. The village approaches, Morenia and Felskinn connect toward the Mittelallalin glacier sector; Spielboden–Längfluh and Plattjen are distinct parts of the wider local area. Saas-Grund/Hohsaas and Saas-Almagell are separate destinations. Regional Saas Valley kilometre totals, Nordic trails, touring and freeride itineraries are not combined into this profile.

The operator confirms the winter launch on 31 October 2026 and limited public skiing on the glacier and toward Morenia. The live detail labelled 7 November 17:02 local time lists 18 Metro, 19 Allalin, 19b Derbyschuss, 10 Weisse Meile, 10b Gletscherband, 05a Eiskristall and 04a Ritzi open. The live report and the general November page now agree about Ritzi. Follow the current report and staff instructions before using any piste. Unconfirmed: complete sector and village returns are not established; an open point-map marker does not mean every piste or lift is operating.

Unconfirmed: a complete current piste inventory, a route-by-route comparison with the operator artwork and the suitability of every connection for an individual skier are not established. The downloadable independent geometry retains community identities; seasonal labels and split ways do not become extra pistes or proof of winter opening. Preserve local signs and grades rather than treating a generic community difficulty as a universal colour.

Historical: Daniel Reust’s own 15 February 2026 photograph shows Saas-Fee village and its lower winter landscape. It is not the current glacier skiing report or proof of today’s snow, open lifts or safe access. Original JPEG bytes are retained with responsive display crops under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Winter uplift, maintenance and exact last Metro journeys

The operator’s winter index lists Saas-Fee’s season as 31 October 2026–18 April 2027. Historical: the Alpin Express 1 maintenance notice covered 2–5 November 2026 and directed access via Spielboden 1 and Felskinn. The live report labelled 7 November 17:02 local time lists Alpin Express I and II open. The November page separately describes Monday–Thursday transport using Spielboden section 1, Felskinn and Alpin Express section 2, with the Felskinn tower lift closed to guests. Follow the day’s signed arrangement and confirm the actual boarding station.

The winter timetable lists Alpin Express at 08:30–16:15 on Friday–Sunday through 29 November, with its section 2 weekday transport note. Felskinn is listed at 08:30–16:15 on Monday–Thursday from 2 November to 5 February, extending to daily operation when the valley run opens. Spielboden section 1 is listed at 08:30–16:00 on Monday–Thursday from 2 November to 6 December. These are scheduled transport windows, subject to the current report and staff instructions.

Metro Alpin links Felskinn with Mittelallalin. From 31 October 2026 to 5 February 2027 its published window is 08:45–16:00, with last ascent at 15:45 and last descent at 16:00. From 6 February to 18 April it lists 08:45–16:15, last ascent 16:00 and last descent 16:15. Those are Metro-specific limits: they do not establish the last permissible start of every piste or the complete chain back to the village.

Conflicting sources: the Spielboden section 1 row labels 7–11 December 2026 as weekend operation, although those dates are Monday–Friday. Confirm that transition directly. Unconfirmed: the final boarding of every other lift, permitted passenger download, a continuously open village descent and a complete assisted return are not established. Agree the entire return with staff before ascending and allow transfer time; a 16:00 Metro descent does not guarantee a later connection.

Arrival: village entrance, PostBus and the correct base

The destination’s arrival page directs rail travellers to Visp and PostBus route 511 toward Saas-Fee, describing a half-hourly service. Search the actual day’s outward and return connections. Cars stop at the village entrance: the operator directs visitors to the multi-storey garage or outside parking, and describes winter e-bus travel toward Alpin Express. The location pin is the community-mapped Alpin Express lower station, not the parking entrance, bus terminal or a surveyed accessible entrance.

The parking page says spaces cannot be reserved and gives a 2.25 m garage entrance limit. It describes number-plate recognition, payment machines and a SaastalCard/guest-card discount procedure. The displayed winter tariff lists CHF 20 for the first 24 hours, including with the guest card; longer-stay conditions differ. Check the selected tariff and posted instructions before entering. Office hours are parking administration hours, not lift operation.

The November page distinguishes a daily local bus via the garage and bus terminal toward Spielboden/Alpin Express from a Friday–Sunday shuttle, with additional 7–8 December dates and daily shuttle operation on 11–18 December 2026. Unconfirmed: exact departure times, the last usable return, capacity, current road restrictions and an end-to-end accessible transfer are not established here. Match transport, rental collection and the actual maintenance-period boarding base before travelling.

Pass scope, age bands and current purchase conditions

The 2026/27 Saas-Fee Pass page covers Saas-Fee and Saas-Almagell; it is not the separate whole-destination product or evidence that either area is operating. The published one-day prices are CHF 86 adult from age 20, CHF 73 youth aged 16–19.99 and CHF 44 children aged 6–15.99. From 11:00 the listed prices are CHF 73/63/38; from 12:00 CHF 69/59/36. These are source prices checked for this guide, not a live booking quote, availability promise or index.ski offer.

The tariff uses actual birth dates. It lists free travel below age six and a separate family offer below age nine with a parent’s minimum six-day pass and valid SaastalCard, excluding season/annual passes and requiring identity checks at the ticket office. Ordinary multi-day passes run consecutively; the July 2026 terms distinguish flexible 5-in-7, 8-in-10 and 11-in-13 products. The village-lift tariff uses a different adult age threshold and must not be substituted for a glacier pass.

Online passes can be loaded onto a SwissPass or existing KeyCard; the source describes collection at pick-up stations. Check the correct open collection point during maintenance. The tariff describes a CHF 5 returnable card deposit for cards purchased after 29 October without naming the year. Unconfirmed: that undated cutoff’s application to an existing card, the final checkout total, lesson/equipment inclusions and the complete applicable insurance cover are not established.

The operator distinguishes pass-refund insurance from optional emergency-transport cover. Read the current conditions for the exact product before purchase; neither a pass nor the word insured establishes comprehensive rescue cover. Conflicting sources: the specific November page gives Magic Pass validity from 31 October 2026, while the general July 2026 terms describe winter season-ticket validity from 1 November. Confirm product-specific validity rather than applying one date to every pass.

Safety: managed open pistes and the whole return

Stay within signed open managed pistes, respect barriers and follow lift and rescue staff. The July 2026 operator terms distinguish marked controlled pistes from terrain outside them and permit transport to be refused where weather or avalanche danger makes the activity unsuitable. They prohibit carrying children or other people on the back, shoulders or in baby carriers while practising snow sports, and exclude dogs from ski pistes apart from specified official/service exceptions. No touring, out-of-hours uphill or glacier-crossing route is supplied.

The glacier setting and a mapped line are not evidence of safe off-piste travel. Check current weather, visibility, surface conditions and local instructions; do not enter closed terrain to follow community geometry or an archive photograph. Beginners should agree suitable terrain and tuition before going high, rather than assuming that a village practice area and the red early-season glacier scope offer the same experience.

The destination lists Saas-Fee piste rescue at +41 27 958 11 11 and general emergency number 112. Give your location and signed piste/lift reference, describe what happened and the number injured, and stay available for questions. The operator’s July 2026 terms describe charged rescue and separate third-party medical/transport costs. Unconfirmed: current patrol staffing/hours, the exact response or evacuation arrangement for a particular incident and a complete individual assisted return are not established. Ask staff before setting out; no safety guarantee or personal medical assessment is supplied.

Equipment, instruction, adaptive provision and contacts

The destination’s Saas-Fee rental list includes shops on Dorfstrasse, Gletscherstrasse and near the Alpin Express side of the village. It advises advance online reservation at larger providers and notes that many offer ski/snowboard servicing. Its school directory separately lists Swiss Ski School Saas-Fee, ESKIMOS and Bespoke Snowsports. Agree discipline, ability, language, equipment, fitting time and the precise meeting point with the selected provider; a directory entry does not establish same-day capacity or opening.

The November page lists the Allalin revolving/self-service restaurant, Felskinn and Morenia as early-season mountain restaurant references. Confirm access and service on the day. Saastal Bergbahnen AG publishes +41 27 958 11 00 and bergbahnen@saas-fee.ch, with its office at Panoramastrasse 5. Destination information is +41 27 958 18 58 and info@saas-fee.ch. These are public information contacts, distinct from the piste-rescue number.

Historical: the adaptive winter-sports page describes the Para-Alpine Skiing collaboration and equipment pool but still dates first bookings to 15 December 2025 for winter 2025/26. Unconfirmed: current 2026/27 equipment availability, instructor capacity, step-free transfers, toilet provision and suitability of each lift/complete return for an individual are not established. Contact the participating school before purchase and plan the entire journey; the page’s inclusive description is not a verified accessibility audit.
