Lifts

Independent ODbL geometry covers selected managed Riksgränsen village and Katterjåkk downhill lines with the six named passenger-lift alignments. Björkliden, Narvikfjellet, Låktatjåkko, cross-country networks, touring, heliskiing, backcountry, freeride and extreme lines are outside this map. Community ways are segments, not the operator’s piste inventory; unnamed segments are not given invented route identities. Generic OSM difficulty remains grey without a literal source colour or an exact verified local colour. The snapshot clock is the canonical OSM API response Date, not an Overpass replication timestamp. Unconfirmed: the linked operator page identifies a downloadable Riksgränsen piste map, but its printed edition, exact comparison with community geometry and artwork reproduction or remote-preview rights have not been verified. No operator artwork is copied or embedded. This map is planning context, without navigation, avalanche, current opening or complete-return guarantees.

HOW THE AREA CONNECTS

Understand the sectors.

01

Village chairlift side

Access: The lower and upper chairlifts form distinct carriers above the village; identify the correct loading point with staff.

The future timetable does not guarantee that both carriers or a complete descent operate on your day.

02

Katterjåkk and surface-lift terrain

Access: Katterjåkksliften, Nordalsliften, Solliften and Vinkelliften have separate operating patterns.

Check the narrower Katterjåkk and weekend hours before relying on a connection back to your accommodation.

01

Start: village or Katterjåkk

Choose the exact lift and meeting point at your starting base. The village pin is approximate; the operator lists a shorter Katterjåkk operating window than the chairlifts.

02

Connect: different carriers and separate resorts

Check Nordalsliften, Solliften and Vinkelliften individually. Björkliden and Narvikfjellet require a separate transport journey; a shared pass is not a mapped ski connection.

03

Return: confirm every required link

Unconfirmed: final skier boarding, downhill return conditions and the last complete connection to the village or Katterjåkk are not established. Ask staff about every required lift and return before leaving your starting base.

01 / FIELD OVERVIEW

Know the hill before the first lap.

Choose the village or Katterjåkk base, check each required lift and return, and keep the separate Björkliden and Narvikfjellet resorts distinct. The independent map covers managed downhill terrain rather than the surrounding off-piste landscape.

Choose managed terrain and keep neighbouring resorts separate

The operator distinguishes Riksgränsen’s pistes, lifts, off-piste terrain and cross-country tracks. This guide covers the village and Katterjåkk managed downhill network. Björkliden and Narvikfjellet are separate resorts reached by transport, and Låktatjåkko is not an extension of this mapped lift area.

The operator advertises seventeen pistes and six lifts in its status interface, while the Arctic Ski Pass description combines forty-four runs across three resorts. Those are different scopes. Neither figure is a count of the community way segments in this independent map, and no full named piste inventory is claimed here.

Natural contours and steeper terrain are part of the area’s character. Choose an open signed piste suited to your ability and arrange coaching if needed. The resort’s promotion of off-piste skiing does not turn an unmarked descent, Nordalsfjäll competition line or heliskiing trip into a managed public piste.

Unconfirmed: the linked operator page identifies a downloadable Riksgränsen piste map, but its printed edition, exact comparison with community geometry and artwork reproduction or remote-preview rights have not been verified. No operator artwork is copied or embedded.

Read the individual lift hours and plan the whole return

The published 2027 programme lists the lower chairlift, upper chairlift and Nordalsliften daily from 09:00 to 16:00. Katterjåkk is listed daily from 10:00 to 12:00. Solliften is listed Monday–Thursday 10:00–15:00 and Friday–Sunday 09:00–16:00; Vinkelliften is listed Friday–Sunday 10:00–15:00. These are planned operating windows, not confirmed last boarding or guaranteed linked access.

The same page plans Friday and Sunday night skiing between 30 April and 21 May: the lower chairlift 22:00–00:30 and upper chairlift 22:00–00:15. The different closing times cross midnight. Check the actual session, ticket and last descent directly rather than assuming that a daytime pass or one open carrier covers the entire return.

Unconfirmed: the operator plans winter skiing for 18 February–23 May 2027, subject to snow and weather. These future dates do not establish skiing today or every lift operating throughout the season.

Historical: the mountain report is dated 24 June 2026 and its closed-lift list was updated on 30 September. It is not a fresh observation of today’s public skiing; current ski access remains unconfirmed.

Unconfirmed: final skier boarding, downhill return conditions and the last complete connection to the village or Katterjåkk are not established. Ask staff about every required lift and return before leaving your starting base.

Check the actual train, road and bus journey

The operator identifies the E10 approach from Kiruna toward Narvik, just before the Norwegian border, and Riksgränsen railway station near the village hotels. It describes trains from Stockholm and onward connections through Kiruna, and travel via Kiruna or Evenes airports. These broad descriptions and approximate journey times are not a dated rail or airport-transfer timetable.

Check the actual train operator, operating date, ski carriage, station exit, transfer margin and final connection before booking accommodation. For a road journey, check winter equipment, weather, road closures and any cross-border hire-car conditions. The village pin does not locate every lift or establish an accessible walk from the platform.

The operator says ordinary Björkliden/Riksgränsen passes cover the transfer between those two resorts; Narvik travel requires the Arctic Ski Pass. It describes twenty-two seats and a pre-booking guarantee only for the booked route and date. A shared pass never guarantees an unbooked seat, an open neighbouring resort or a return after its last service.

Unconfirmed: the Arctic Skibus page lists Monday–Saturday service and says it does not depart after 3 May, without establishing the year of that restriction or a complete 2027 timetable. Confirm the actual date, stops, pre-booking and last return; do not assume a Sunday or late-May service.

Unconfirmed: adapted lessons, equipment, step-free station transfer, accessible lift boarding and a complete assisted return have not been established. Arrange the actual requirements directly with the relevant operator before booking.

Match the pass, card and date before paying

The public local-pass table lists a one-day adult price of SEK 546 and youth/senior price of SEK 437, a three-hour product at SEK 524/419, and a single trip at SEK 182/146. It separately lists a SEK 70 smart card, a button-lift product and night skiing at SEK 435/348. These are published table entries, not a guaranteed current checkout offer.

The local product is described for Björkliden and Riksgränsen. Arctic products also include Narvikfjellet, with separate season and multi-day prices. A wider pass does not establish a skiable connection between resorts: those journeys need transport, and each resort’s daily opening and complete return must be checked independently.

The page says children up to seven wearing a helmet ride free. Check the precise age boundary, helmet requirement, card provision and the selected carrier directly. The page’s description of a day pass as twelve hours of skiing is not a twelve-hour lift-opening guarantee; use the individual operating timetable.

Unconfirmed: the public price tables do not explicitly establish their applicable winter edition, exact youth/senior ages or all pass conditions. Confirm the selected date, product, age category, card charge and cancellation terms in the official shop before paying.

Respect patrol advice and the limits of this guide

Use the current operator report and signs for closures, weather and patrol instructions before entering a piste. Adjust speed and terrain to ability and visibility, wear suitable protective equipment and do not treat a mapped descent as permission to ski it. An old closed-lift report and an archive snow photograph do not establish today’s conditions.

Off-piste lines, touring, cross-country networks, heliskiing and extreme competition terrain are outside this guide and map. The operator separately offers guided activities and avalanche equipment; renting a transceiver, shovel or probe does not establish competence, safe avalanche conditions or permission for an independent route.

The contact page lists ski patrol at +46 980 641 50 with 09:00–16:00 hours. Confirm the active patrol channel and coverage for the actual day or night session; a published phone number does not guarantee availability, evacuation arrangements or rescue cost coverage. The general hotel number is a separate service channel.

Conflicting sources: the homepage lists regular winter doctor sessions, while the 2027 opening-hours page says the clinic’s 2027 hours will be announced. Do not treat the generic schedule or the listed patrol hours as a guaranteed current medical service.

Unconfirmed: final skier boarding, downhill return conditions and the last complete connection to the village or Katterjåkk are not established. Ask staff about every required lift and return before leaving your starting base.

Unconfirmed: adapted lessons, equipment, step-free station transfer, accessible lift boarding and a complete assisted return have not been established. Arrange the actual requirements directly with the relevant operator before booking.

Arrange the actual lesson, equipment and assistance

The sports shop beside the hotel entrance lists alpine and snowboard rental, accessories and workshop services including edge work, waxing and binding mounting. Its page announces reopening on 18 February 2027 and advertises 08:30–17:00 Monday–Wednesday and 08:30–18:00 Thursday–Sunday until 23 May. Check the actual booking, fitting and collection time rather than assuming stock or a service appointment.

The skiing page lists private ski coaching and snowboard lessons separately from off-piste guiding and touring. Reserve the right discipline, ability level, meeting point, language and age arrangement. A lesson listing does not establish a nursery, adaptive programme or an independently safe off-piste route.

The operator gives Riksgränsvägen 15, 981 94 Riksgränsen and +46 980 641 00 for general hotel contact. Sports information is planned for 08:30–11:30 during 18 February–23 May; warming huts are separately listed. Confirm opening, equipment return and support directly, and read the applicable rental and activity cancellation terms.

Unconfirmed: adapted lessons, equipment, step-free station transfer, accessible lift boarding and a complete assisted return have not been established. Arrange the actual requirements directly with the relevant operator before booking.
