Plan Loveland’s separate Basin and Valley bases with an independent map, practical ticket and shuttle guidance, and explicit limits on current skiing, replacement lifts and winter services.
075MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore the independent community map and practical starting bases. Read the coverage limits and check current opening and access with the operator.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: a current official winter-map edition and lawful remote-preview basis were not verified; operator artwork is omitted and the independent map retains its stated coverage limits. The reviewed map covers Basin and Valley managed core corridors. It omits uncertain replacement Lift 7 geometry, the retired inter-base link, high-ridge access, expert/unnamed/area-only features and explicit backcountry/extreme lines. Generic grades remain grey. Segment counts are not resort inventory, open terrain, access permission, guaranteed connections or navigation. The source snapshot time is the canonical API HTTP response time, not an Overpass replication date.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Main Basin arrival and passenger chairs; confirm open terrain and the complete return.
Broad managed alpine terrain; steep ridge/backcountry corridors excluded from this independent map.
Access: Separate Valley base and road shuttle; confirm the actual lesson and ticket scope.
Learning slopes; replacement Lift 7 not represented as verified geometry.
The pin marks the Basin planning reference. Valley is a separate learning base with its own lodge, rental and lesson meeting points; confirm your booked product before parking.
The operator advertises a free Basin–Valley shuttle during normal operation. Lift5 is retired; the replacement Valley Lift7 is separate and its geometry is omitted. Check permitted lift/descent connections locally.
Unconfirmed: the actual last Basin–Valley shuttle, final lift boarding and suitable signed descent for the selected day have not been verified. Confirm the complete return to your own parking or transport pickup with staff before boarding; no continuous ski connection between the two bases is promised.
01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
Loveland Basin and Valley alpine guide with independent map, tickets, arrivals, rentals and safety, preserving seasonal and operating uncertainties.
Separate Basin and Valley starting points
Independent ODbL map and archive landscape
Clear seasonal and return-planning limits
Loveland Ski Area has two distinct bases east of Colorado’s Continental Divide: the main Basin and the beginner-focused Valley. This guide covers managed alpine skiing and snowboarding, separate from Loveland Pass backcountry, Arapahoe Basin, touring and commercial snowcat trips. Choose the area that matches your ability and booked product.
Conflicting sources: the mountain-stats introduction advertises nine lifts, its type list adds nine chairs and two carpets, and the snow report uses a ten-lift denominator. The advertised 94 trails and 1,800 lift-served acres are operator totals, not counts of community map segments.
The Basin mixes marked cruising terrain, steeper slopes and glades; the Valley concentrates learning and ski-school activity away from that broader mountain. Follow local signs and difficulty symbols. The independent map preserves community names but leaves generic difficulty tags grey; it supplies neither a universal grade conversion nor a complete operational inventory.
Historical: Mitch Bennett’s photograph shows Loveland’s snowy mountain landscape on 30 December 2008. The original CC BY 2.0 image is unchanged, with responsive display crops. It does not establish current snow, open terrain, lift replacements or access.
At the Basin, the operator identifies Chet’s Dream as its detachable quad and describes the other chairs as fixed grip. At the Valley it lists Lift 3, Lift 7 and learning carpets. Published accessibility guidance says attendants can slow fixed-grip chairs on request; agree assistance and the appropriate descent before entering a queue.
Historical: Lift 5 was the cross-highway Basin–Valley link retired in 2002; the operator announced its removal in July 2026. It is not the new Valley Lift 7. Use the advertised road shuttle connection rather than assuming a working inter-base chair or a ski-through route.
Unconfirmed: community Lift 7 data records occupancy of three without establishing the replacement’s current footprint. The operator says its fixed-grip quad opened on 21 November 2025 and is deliberately loaded with at most three guests. Those loading and design figures are different scopes. The independent map omits unverified replacement geometry instead of treating the tag as a current survey.
Unconfirmed: the 2026/27 hours page announces a late-October to early-November opening window but also retains “CLOSED FOR SEASON”. Basin/Valley pages retain 2025/26 closures, and the 31 October 2026 snow report has blank lift/trail availability fields. No current skiing or exact opening boundary is established.
The 2026/27 hours page lists 09:00–16:00 on weekdays and 08:30–16:00 on weekends and named holidays. These are planned lift hours, not a same-day operating report or a guarantee that every chair runs for that entire period.
Unconfirmed: the actual last Basin–Valley shuttle, final lift boarding and suitable signed descent for the selected day have not been verified. Confirm the complete return to your own parking or transport pickup with staff before boarding; no continuous ski connection between the two bases is promised.
The operator directs drivers to Interstate 70 Exit 216, east of the Eisenhower/Johnson tunnels, approximately 53 miles west of Denver. Select Basin or Valley explicitly for rentals, lessons and pickup. The profile pin is a planning reference at the Basin, not a surveyed entrance, guaranteed parking space or accessible drop-off.
The operator advertises free parking and a free Basin–Valley shuttle about every five to ten minutes during normal operation. Its listed Valley stop is by the Sport Shop; the Basin stop is at the main parking stairs. Confirm the actual service and boarding point locally, especially when starting or finishing at different bases.
Unconfirmed: the hours page retains Snowstang dates from 13 December to 3 May without a clear season year. No accepted 2026/27 departure, fare or reservation was established. Check the carrier for the actual travel date and arrange a reliable return; the operator warns that a rideshare home can be difficult.
Unconfirmed: today’s step-free route, lift assistance and individual evacuation arrangements are not established. The operator describes uneven or icy Basin parking and no direct lodge access from the main lot; separate lodge-side spaces and elevators have different approaches. Discuss the complete journey before booking.
Check current I-70 conditions, traction requirements, weather and any road restrictions through the responsible transport authority before departure. Allow time for equipment collection and the selected lesson check-in; the mountain drive and parking search are outside the lift timetable.
The 2026/27 ticket page lists early-season window rates through 13 December 2026 of USD 119 for ages 15+ and USD 40 for ages 6–14. Its regular-season window table, 14 December 2026–4 April 2027, lists USD 159, USD 45 and USD 109 for ages 60+. Children five and under still need a window-issued ticket even when free. These are published product periods and prices, not confirmed skiing boundaries.
Valley-only tickets are listed at USD 60 for ages 15+ and USD 35 for ages 6–14, with Lift 7, Lift 3 and Rainbow Carpet named. The page announces Valley operation from 20 November to 4 April and Lift 3 from 13 December; verify actual openings before purchase. An all-mountain ticket and a learning-area product have different scope.
Advance adult discounts are capacity-limited and the page excludes purchase within 24 hours of the visit. Check the exact date, age category, pickup, included terrain and applicable cancellation terms in the official checkout. A rental purchase alone excludes a lift ticket. Package and pass conditions are product-specific; do not assume a weather refund or transfer entitlement.
The operator’s responsibility code requires control, space for downhill traffic, observation of signs and closures, prevention of runaway equipment and safe lift use. Ask an attendant when unsure about boarding. Wear a properly fitted snow-sport helmet; the operator encourages helmets without presenting them as protection from every hazard. Snow, visibility and exposed high terrain can change rapidly.
Unconfirmed: the uphill page currently says access is closed for snowmaking and anticipates mid-to-late December 2026 reopening, while pass/waiver wording still includes 2025/26. This is not a confirmed reopening date or permission to ascend. Loveland Valley uphill access is prohibited.
Winch grooming cables, snowmaking and avalanche-control work are distinct hazards; the uphill policy describes blue winch-work and amber mitigation warnings. Keep away from machinery and closed terrain. The map grants no uphill, backcountry, Ridge Cat, off-hours or closed-piste permission. Avoid deep-snow/tree-well exposure and follow patrol instructions.
Published patrol contacts are +1 303 571 5580 extension 134 at Basin, 143 at Valley and 101 for dispatch; the operator lists 911 for emergencies. Published contact details and nominal patrol hours are not a guarantee of current coverage. Identify your base and exact location when requesting help.
The Basin rental shop is beside the Sport Shop/main lodge; the Valley shop is below its restaurant at the patio. The rental page advertises 08:00–16:30 service, no new rentals after 14:00, a credit-card deposit and separate lift tickets. Reserve the actual base, package, size and date; confirm helmet/goggle inclusion and equipment return at handover.
The school’s 2026/27 programme separates children’s group lessons at ages 4–14, adult groups at 15+ and private lessons with their own age/party rules. Children’s group packages and private lessons have different ticket/equipment inclusions. Confirm ability, meeting base, check-in, supervision and cancellation terms for the specific booking.
The accessibility page welcomes sit-ski users on chairs but says the Valley school does not supply sit-ski equipment or lessons. For individual accommodation contact +1 303 571 5580 extension 136 or ticket@skiloveland.com; school enquiries use extension 170. General enquiries use loveland@skiloveland.com. Food, shops and lodge facilities exist at both bases but have separate service hours.
Unconfirmed: actual lesson places, equipment sizes, current shop/food-service availability and seasonal opening dates need a booking check. Published rental and lesson products do not establish today’s skiing.
Selected historical name and local-grade references only. The coverage note explains the unavailable current official plan. This list establishes neither the full inventory nor current opening or access.
