High-base alpine skiing in Styria’s Wölzer Tauern, with a distinct nursery area and several upper lift sectors. This independent guide combines a scoped community map with current published season and ticket information, while separating announced plans from present skiing and a guaranteed return.
082MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore the independent community map and practical starting bases. Read the coverage limits and check current opening and access with the operator.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: the operator map page is linked separately, but a current artwork edition and lawful inline preview have not been verified; no operator artwork is reproduced in this guide. Scoped OSM downhill centre lines and passenger lifts cover Lachtal/Hebert, Schönberg, Tanzstatt, Zinken and Dietrichalm. Technical goods transport, touring/backcountry, sledging and private/proposed/disused features are omitted. Community names and conflicting references are not an official inventory or inspected operator-plan match; generic grades remain grey. No current skiing, access, safe return or navigation is guaranteed. The canonical API HTTP response Date is the snapshot clock, not an Overpass replication timestamp.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Main community chair and Hebert alignments near the southern starting area.
Match lesson, hire and the actual permitted return.
Access: Community chair and surface-lift links on the eastern side.
Check every signed connection and required ability.
Access: Higher western and northern community surface-lift alignments.
Infrastructure context only; no current open circuit inferred.
The planning point marks the lower community Lachtal chair endpoint beside the Hebert approaches. Match the actual lesson, hire, ticket and parking before arrival; the point is not an entrance survey or assisted boarding promise.
The community network extends from the Lachtal/Hebert side toward Schönberg Schaukel and Tanzstatt, with higher Zinken and Dietrichalm alignments. Source names and references are not an operator-plan match. Ask which signed carriers and descents are open before crossing; the combined Kreischberg pass does not create a physical ski connection.
Unconfirmed: the final lift boarding, open descent and any permitted download to your chosen base have not been established. Ask staff for the complete return before taking a lift; 16:00 is a general operating end, not a guaranteed last connection. Arrange the separate road or public-transport return as well; no current final mountain transfer is established.
01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
Independent Lachtal guide with a licensed ski map, three practical orientation cards, source-scoped 2026/27 passes and clear current-skiing and return limitations.
High-base managed alpine terrain and separate Kinder-Lachtal
Distinct Lachtal/Hebert, Schönberg and upper community sectors
Published 2026/27 planning scope and genuine 2013 archive context
This guide covers the managed alpine ski area of Lachtal in Styria’s Wölzer Tauern, with the high base around 1,600 m and the operator’s highest lift station at 2,222 m. The operator separates 26 km of blue, red and black pistes from 10 km of ski routes; its combined 36 km and 150 ha figures are advertised scope, not an independently measured piste inventory.
The community map shows the Lachtal/Hebert starting area, the Schönberg side, Tanzstatt and the higher Zinken and Dietrichalm alignments. Names and references come from the original OSM data. Duplicate or inconsistent source references do not establish operator identities, and generic easy/intermediate/advanced tags remain grey rather than being converted to universal piste colours.
Kinder-Lachtal is the distinct beginner area, with a carpet, rope lift and small learning features. The operator describes the winter Wildes Lachtal adventure trail as starting near Kleinlachtalhütte; its approximately 4 km summer course with 19 stations is a separate seasonal activity. The independent ski map omits touring/backcountry routes, sledging and technical goods transport.
Unconfirmed: present skiing availability has not been established. The published 4 December 2026–29 March 2027 season and 09:00–16:00 hours are planning dates and hours, not a guarantee that any particular lift or piste will operate.
The operator’s infrastructure page describes two six-seat chairlifts and eight T-bar lifts. The independent data separately identifies the Lachtal chair, Schönberg Schaukel, Hebert 1 and Hebertlift 2, Schönberglift, Tanzstattlift, Zinkenlift and Dietrichalmlift, plus nursery transport. These are community infrastructure references; the map’s way count is not a reconciliation of the operator’s carrier total or a current opening list.
For the main starting area, the planning point marks the lower community Lachtal-chair endpoint, beside the Hebert approaches. Schönberg Schaukel starts farther up the mapped network; Tanzstatt and Dietrichalm extend the upper/eastern context, while Zinken is on the western high side. Check the actual signed connection and required ability before moving between them; proximity on the map does not prove a continuous open circuit.
The current information page lists daily 09:00–16:00 operating hours and a 4 December 2026 start through 29 March 2027. Early season ends 24 December, peak pricing runs 25 December–15 March, and late season begins 16 March. These are published seasonal plans, subject to the operator’s safety and operating decisions.
Unconfirmed: the final lift boarding, open descent and any permitted download to your chosen base have not been established. Ask staff for the complete return before taking a lift; 16:00 is a general operating end, not a guaranteed last connection.
The operator’s address is Lachtal 402, 8831 Oberwölz, Austria; the hire and school list Schönberg-Lachtal 404. Match the actual meeting point, parking and ticket collection before travelling. The map point is a remotely reviewed community lift endpoint, not a surveyed entrance, reserved parking place or confirmed assisted-boarding location.
The official arrival page links the Styrian public-transport journey planner. Search for the actual date and destination, and confirm the final mountain leg and return separately; this guide does not invent a railway-to-lift shuttle or transfer from a generic routing link. Carry a margin for road and snow conditions rather than relying on promotional driving times.
Historical: the operator’s terms, marked 7 November 2023, limit its parking areas to customers with a purchased pass and to 08:00–20:00. Check the current posted rules before parking; that older statement does not establish a free space, overnight permission, current fee or winter road equipment rule.
Unconfirmed: a dated 2026/27 ski-bus timetable, final public-transport connection, current parking charges, winter road equipment requirements and a continuous step-free journey have not been established. The operator’s website accessibility statement concerns its website and does not confirm accessible lift boarding or an adapted skiing service.
The displayed 2026/27 Lachtal day table lists a 09:00 full-day pass at EUR 62 adult, EUR 31 child and EUR 49.50 adolescent in the 25 December–15 March peak season, and EUR 56/28/44.50 in early or late season. Prices include VAT. Later-start, morning and hourly tickets are different products; for example the peak two-hour adult price is EUR 43.50, while the morning ticket ends at 13:00.
Kinder-Lachtal has its own restricted-area ticket: the peak one-day adult/child/adolescent figures are EUR 31/15.50/25, and the early/late figures are EUR 28/14/22.50. Do not treat it as a full mountain pass or assume that a single chairlift ride includes unrestricted skiing. The information page adds a refundable EUR 3 key-card deposit and asks users to carry the contactless card on the left.
The Lachtal-only two-day adult pass is listed at EUR 122 peak and EUR 106 early/late; the separately titled Kreischberg-and-Lachtal product is EUR 141.50 or EUR 124. A combined pass is a ticket scope, not a physical ski connection between those areas. Check duration, dates and area validity before payment.
Unconfirmed: the unusually broad published adolescent birth-year band, 2001–2010, has not been independently clarified. The same current tables list children born 2011–2020 and a free Mini Ticket for 2021 or later; the nursery page additionally says young children must be accompanied by parents. Confirm the actual eligibility and required ticket at the desk instead of converting those bands into an assumed age rule.
Historical: the currently linked terms are dated 7 November 2023 and contain specific partial-operation, injury and closure refund provisions. Read the terms applicable to the purchase and ask about the actual closed-lift/refund case; this guide does not promise an unconditional refund or current availability.
Use only permitted open managed terrain, obey signs and lift staff, and choose speed and route for ability, snow, visibility and other users. The operator’s terms apply FIS conduct rules and reserve operating restrictions for safety. Its marketing references to freeriding and ski routes do not grant unrestricted forest, uphill, night or backcountry access; none is supplied by this independent map.
Historical: the terms marked 7 November 2023 close pistes from 17:00 to 08:00 and warn of grooming, winch ropes, snowmaking, exposed cables and hoses. A separate March 2025 notice used a different off-season closure interval; neither is a verified current exception to posted rules. Stay off closed terrain and check the day’s signs rather than treating the gap after lift closing as permission to ski.
Historical: those same terms require supervised use of chairlifts and T-bars for children up to 125 cm, subject to the particular facility rules, and prohibit carrying small children on T-bars. They exclude pedestrians and sledging from ski pistes; pedestrian tickets are for travel without winter sports equipment. Follow the current carrier-specific boarding rules, and arrange any individual assistance with staff before purchasing or boarding.
Historical: the dated terms quote a EUR 168 accident rescue/transport flat charge, reset annually. Unconfirmed: the current rescue charge, local patrol dispatch number, insurance scope and individual evacuation arrangements have not been established. Ask the operator for the current procedure, carry appropriate cover and report an accident promptly to lift staff; the office telephone is not a verified emergency dispatch line.
The operator lists Skirent Lachtal and the Lachtal ski/snowboard school under Norbert Brunner, at Schönberg-Lachtal 404. The school office is at the sports shop. Published contacts are +43 664 1354070, +43 664 5443388 and brunner@ski-lachtal.at; arrange fitting, lesson language, ability group, collection and return directly with the provider.
The lift company is Lachtal-Lifte u. Seilbahnen GmbH, Lachtal 402, with +43 3587 2030 and office@lachtal.at. Use that office to clarify pass validity, posted operating/parking rules, safe return and assistance. A lesson, rental or pass listing does not establish a bookable place today or include the other products.
Unconfirmed: dated 2026/27 lesson and rental prices, equipment availability, exact operating hours, adapted instruction and the complete assisted access/return chain have not been established. Reserve the actual service and obtain any necessary acceptance before travel.
Historical: Mayer Bruno’s genuine photograph, taken on 28 November 2013, shows a snowy Lachtal hillside, trees and the distant Karawanken above a cloud layer. It is licensed archive landscape context, not evidence of current snow, piste preparation, lift infrastructure, access or opening.
Selected historical name and local-grade references only. The coverage note explains the unavailable current official plan. This list establishes neither the full inventory nor current opening or access.
