105MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore the independent community map and practical starting bases. Read the coverage limits and check current opening and access with the operator.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
This independent ODbL map covers community-mapped managed downhill geometry and reviewed named passenger alignments from Kranjska Gora through Podkoren to Velika dolina. Planica, Macesnovec, Slatna, Nordic terrain, jumping, Vitranc 2 and its summit descent, abandoned/backcountry ways and unidentified learning carpets are excluded. Generic difficulty remains grey; no universal grade conversion, operator inventory, current skiing, patrol, grooming, access or complete return is inferred. Snapshot dates are the original canonical OSM API tile HTTP response Dates, not Overpass replication timestamps. Unconfirmed: the current edition and lawful preview display of the operator map have not been verified; operator artwork is omitted from this independent guide.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Choose the exact school or town-side lift meeting point.
Kekec, Dolenčev rut and Mojca/Rožle community alignments; current operation unconfirmed.
Access: Confirm every signed open suitable connection toward Podkoren.
Vitranc 2 and its unverified summit skiing are omitted.
Access: Separate base references and ticket scope need checking.
Competition controls and the complete return are day-specific.
The pin follows the community Dolenčev rut lower endpoint. Confirm the exact school, lift, rental collection and parking approach; Podkoren and Velika dolina have different base references. No surveyed accessible doorway is asserted.
Named community alignments show the separate sectors. Ask staff for every signed open suitable link before changing base. Planica/Nordic/jumping terrain and Vitranc 2 summit skiing are outside this map; geometry does not guarantee carriage or access.
Unconfirmed: individual last boarding, passenger download, a suitable continuous return and current final winter buses are not established. Agree the complete route to your actual base and equipment return before departure; the summer 2026 shuttle is historical.
01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
Independent Kranjska Gora–Podkoren alpine ski guide with an ODbL map, genuine archive landscape, six practical sections and explicit calendar, child-ticket, access and return limits.
Town-side, Podkoren and Velika dolina starting points
2026/27 tariff with visible child-eligibility conflicts
Weekly night programme separate from confirmed daily skiing
Kranjska Gora and Podkoren form the managed alpine ski area covered by the operator RTC Žičnice, Kranjska Gora, d.o.o. This guide follows the town-side slopes, Podkoren and Velika dolina beneath Vitranc in Slovenia’s Julian Alps. Planica’s Nordic centre, ski jumps and valley cross-country network, separate Mojstrana slopes, Vogel and touring terrain are outside this guide. A shared destination name does not make them one lift-connected ski product.
Conflicting sources: the destination tourism page advertises 21 slopes, five chairlifts and eight lifts across a wider valley description, while the operator homepage displays totals of 18 slopes and 13 lifts. Their scopes and present completeness are not reconciled. Those promotional totals are not adopted as this guide’s current inventory or an opening report; the independent map’s segments and outlines are not a piste count.
The community map shows the town-side Kekec, Dolenčev rut, Mojca and Rožle alignments, Vitranc 1 and Brsnina, the Podkoren chair and the separate Velika dolina side with Kolovrat and Bedanec. Names reflect community geometry, not an operator-verified alias table. Local signs and the day’s staff instructions determine the appropriate route. Generic easy/intermediate/advanced community tags remain grey; no local colour or universal ability equivalence is invented.
Historical: Žiga / Sl-Ziga’s genuine photograph looks from the Podkoren ski slope toward the village and Koren Pass on 11 December 2005 according to the source EXIF. It is archive landscape context, not evidence of current snow, an open descent, a present lift layout or a continuous accessible route.
The town-side passenger alignments sit behind Kranjska Gora’s accommodation area, with Kekec and Dolenčev rut and the Mojca/Rožle learning side. The map retains the named Vitranc 1 and Brsnina alignments toward Podkoren, plus Podkoren, Kolovrat, Bedanec and Velika dolina. Ask staff which signed open suitable route reaches your intended sector and returns to the same base; the drawing alone is not a promised continuous circuit.
Unconfirmed: present skiing, exact 2026/27 season boundaries, individual daytime lift hours, last boarding, passenger download and the complete final return are not established. The homepage’s undated 0/13 and 0/18 counters and blank operating fields do not establish today’s ski closure or a future opening. The destination operation page provides general guidance without a usable current named status table in this response. The place-point status therefore remains unknown.
The operator’s current night-skiing page labels its programme 2026/2027 and lists Fridays on the Dolenčev rut chairlift and Mojca 2 ski lift, and Saturdays on the Kekec chairlift and Mojca 2 ski lift. Skiing is listed at 18:00–21:00 and the town ticket office at 17:30–20:00. Unconfirmed: it gives no dated first night or guaranteed weekly operation and says the actual schedule is announced weekly. Check the current announcement and weather before travelling.
Unconfirmed: Vitranc 2’s current winter-skiing purpose and a legally available managed descent from its summit have not been established. Its community chair geometry and connecting summit descent are omitted. Do not treat a summer/scenic lift, an old photo or a line visible on another map as permission to ski or as a return route. Agree the day’s last suitable connection and mountain exit before boarding.
The destination’s arrival guidance identifies the Ljubljana–Kranj–Jesenice–Kranjska Gora road approach, the Karavanke tunnel or Korensko sedlo approach from Austria, and Rateče from Italy. It identifies Jesenice as the rail interchange with onward bus travel, and also mentions Tarvisio and Villach rail stations. Check the actual carrier and road authority for the travel date; general destination distances and driving-time estimates are not a winter connection guarantee.
The map pin uses the community lower endpoint of the Dolenčev rut chair near the town-side ski base. The operator’s administrative contact is Borovška cesta 103a, 4280 Kranjska Gora. Neither identifies a surveyed step-free entrance, a reserved parking bay or the exact meeting point for every school. Podkoren and Velika dolina are different starting points: establish where your ticket, lesson and equipment collection actually begin.
Historical: the tourism bus page’s free Kranjska Gora circular shuttle applies to 15 June–15 September 2026. Its summer Vrata Valley and July–August international services do not establish ski-season transport. Unconfirmed: a complete 2026/27 ski-bus timetable, ski carriage, the final return and a continuous accessible interchange are not established. Verify both directions, the actual stop and the walk to the base before committing to a trip.
The destination arrival page describes municipal paid parking with app/SMS or card payment at meters. Unconfirmed: current parking capacity, ski-base charges, event restrictions and a guaranteed space are not established. Read the signs and current parking operator’s terms at the chosen site, leave access roads clear and allow time for snow, equipment collection and the final journey home.
The operator’s published 2026/27 table lists a daily pass at €50 adult, €31 child and €45 senior/youth, and a two-hour pass at €38/€27/€34 in the same order. The table defines the main child group by birth years 2012–2020, youth 2003–2011 and seniors born in 1966 or earlier. These are source-attributed listed prices checked on 2 November, not a guaranteed checkout total or a claim that skiing is open.
The table says day and multi-day passes exclude night skiing, which is a separate listed product; children’s passes exclude Žičko Children’s Park. It also lists a family daily product for two adults and two children at €140 and a separately priced under-ten Žičko area. The homepage announces a 2–27 November 2026 presale. Confirm the actual dated product, eligible people and collection method; the main tariff is not automatically a presale discount.
Conflicting sources: the same price page includes birth year 2020 in its main child band and in separate young-child daily/four-hour/season rows, while its prose refers to children born in 2021 or later. The general terms instead describe under-six children using a season pass. Exact birth-year-2020 treatment and the applicable young-child product are unresolved. Obtain product-specific clarification and bring age/status identification before purchasing.
Unconfirmed: current Velika dolina-specific entitlement, any combined-resort coverage, complete presale conditions, card/deposit costs and the final cancellation/refund terms for the chosen purchase have not been established. The main page links a separate Velika dolina tariff, which is not silently treated as part of every town pass. Check the exact dated checkout terms and retain the receipt; equipment, instruction, transport and childcare are separate unless expressly included.
The operator’s published rules require compliance with staff, patrol, barriers and signs, prohibit entering closed areas or crossing safety nets, and keep walkers, sledges and dogs off ski slopes. Its FIS guidance stresses speed control, suitable route choice, safe stopping and helping after an accident. Stay on signed open managed pistes within your ability and keep clear of maintenance vehicles; no touring, off-piste or out-of-hours itinerary is supplied.
The published terms require an adult companion for children below 125 cm on chairlifts and prohibit child carriers and pets on lifts. They state a helmet requirement for skiers under 14. Check the current boarding instructions and use correctly fitted protection. A child’s ticket or lesson booking does not establish independent lift competence or waive staff restrictions.
Podkoren hosts the Vitranc competition, but the race edition and recreational skiing are separate uses. Training and competition terrain can be fenced and controlled; follow the actual closures rather than assuming a race piste is publicly available. The map includes community geometry for orientation only, not a course setting, ski-school permission, a park-access assurance or a declaration that every plotted feature is patrolled.
Unconfirmed: current uphill permission, route-specific final closure, a direct patrol dispatch number, response capacity and visit-specific assisted evacuation are not established. Ask staff for the day’s emergency procedure before departure and give the signed piste/location when reporting an incident. The operator’s planning telephone is not represented as a medical dispatch line, and a pass is not a verified comprehensive accident or repatriation policy.
The operator lists several independent schools, including SkiSchool.si at Borovška cesta 103a, Extreme Vital at 99a, Miha Orel at 102a, INTERSPORT Šport Bernik at 88a and Kekec at Smerinje 11. The tourism rental directory separately lists Kranjska Gora, Kekec and Orel ski-equipment rental. These are published service listings, not inspected stock, a guaranteed instructor allocation or a single shared meeting place.
Book the discipline, level, instructor language, minimum age and exact meeting point directly with the chosen provider. Ask whether the quoted package includes the required lift product, helmet, skis/boots/poles or snowboard equipment, and allow time for fitting. Agree the equipment return location and deadline before going to another sector; a booking in the town does not guarantee collection at Podkoren or Velika dolina.
The operator publishes +386 4 58 09 400 and Borovška cesta 103a. Conflicting sources: the shared page footer uses info@skikranjskagora.org while the contact-page body lists info@kr-gora.si. These addresses are recorded as published planning contacts, not independently tested response channels. The telephone provides a practical way to confirm the correct current contact and ski-base arrangements.
Unconfirmed: current lesson/rental prices and availability, childcare supervision, adaptive equipment, companion entitlement, step-free parking-to-lift access and a complete assisted return have not been verified. Discuss the entire arrival, fitting, boarding, skiing and return chain with the provider before booking. General family promotion or a base marker does not establish accessibility for an individual visit.
Selected historical name and local-grade references only. The coverage note explains the unavailable current official plan. This list establishes neither the full inventory nor current opening or access.
