Explore mapped pistes and lifts, compare the official plans and choose the right starting base. Check current opening separately.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Community map for planning. Coverage may be incomplete. Grey pistes have no confirmed local grade. Check the official plan and current opening; mapped geometry does not grant access.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Three-stage main ascent plus alternative links; consult the actual open lifts.
High-altitude pistes and separate freestyle/training uses; glacier boundaries remain important.
Access: Availability can differ from the upper glacier. Check the exact valley run and final lift descent.
Red Schwarze Pfanne, the separate Waldabfahrt Skiroute and winter family features have distinct scopes.
Access: Announced reopening December 2026; operator describes free practice-area access.
Conveyors and beginner lifts near Aue parking, distinct from higher pass-required Kidsslope/Funslope.
Hintertux 794 is the valley starting point. Rail access runs via Jenbach and Mayrhofen, followed by bus 4104; check the seasonal timetable for your travel date.
The main ascent reaches the upper glacier through several stages. Sommerberg, higher training and freestyle areas, and the base practice facilities have different opening and ticket scopes.
Check Schwarze Pfanne, the separate Waldabfahrt Skiroute and the last lift descent individually. An open upper glacier does not establish that a valley return is available.
Choose the Hintertuxer Gletscher plan for this profile. The separate Zillertal 3000 plan covers a wider ski region.
Link checkedThe operator-linked 2026/27 Hintertuxer Gletscher panorama with legend. A static map shows the network, not current openings.
Link checkedCheck the Hintertux Glacier section separately from Eggalm, Rastkogel and Finkenberg. The report distinguishes named lifts and lower descents.
Link checked01 / FIELD OVERVIEW
The operator describes a glacier ski area reaching 3,250 metres and up to 64 km of pistes at full winter extent. The wider 206 km Ski- & Glacier World is a different combined area. Cable cars have a year-round timetable; that does not guarantee skiing every day or access to every sector. Wind and snow can change the available terrain.
3,250 m upper elevation
Cable-car and ski hours distinguished
Combined-region kilometres kept separate
This profile covers the Hintertux Glacier area, from the 1,500 m valley base to the 3,250 m Gefrorene Wand. The operator advertises up to 64 km at full winter extent. The 206 km Ski- & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 is a broader regional offer, not another 206 km inside this glacier profile. Early-season skiing does not establish that the valley return is open.
The 2026/27 glacier panorama distinguishes blue, red and black pistes from diamond-marked Skiroutes. This catalogue documents the red Schwarze Pfanne (1), red Spannagelabfahrt (2) and the distinct Waldabfahrt Skiroute (1a). The map legend says Skiroutes are marked and secured against avalanches but are neither prepared nor controlled. They must not be presented as ordinary groomed red pistes.
The operator describes the ascent to Gefrorene Wand using Gletscherbus 1, 2 and 3, with two changes and approximately 40 minutes of travel. This is an orientation time, not a queue or weather guarantee. The current lift list also includes alternative gondolas, chairlifts and surface lifts; check the actual connection instead of assuming every installation operates.
The published general transport timetable is 08:15–16:30 daily, skiing until 16:00 and ticket offices 08:00–17:00. The operator’s last-download guidance separately lists Gefrorene Wand at 16:00, Tuxer Fernerhaus at 16:30 and Sommerberg at 16:45. These are different stations in the return chain, not one universal last departure. Year-round pedestrian transport is distinct from snow-dependent ski availability. Wind or maintenance can restrict access or end operation earlier; agree the entire return with staff before travelling upward.
The operator’s base is Hintertux 794, 6293 Tux, at the end of the Tux valley. By road, follow the A12 Zillertal exit and continue through the valley. At the 27 October check, the operator permits free indoor/outdoor day parking directly at the base from 08:00–17:00. Charging has separate fees; parking areas do not permit camping.
Public transport connects Jenbach with Mayrhofen by Zillertalbahn, then bus 4104 towards Hintertux. Seasonal sport/skibuses have separate routes and pass conditions. Some winter timetables are still marked as forthcoming, so no departure time is promised here. The map pin identifies the lift base; confirm the relevant entrance, accessible arrangements and any assistance directly with the operator.
Price check dated 27 October 2026: the winter skier tables, valid 17 October 2026–7 May 2027, list EUR 82 adult, EUR 65.50 youth (born 2008–2011) and EUR 37 child (2012–2020) for a full day, plus EUR 2 chip-card deposit. Select the skiing tab when reading prices. The EUR 68 autumn tariff applied only to 2–16 October and is not a current winter-day quote.
Check the purchase date, included region and current product in the official shop. Broader winter validity has its own calendar. Pedestrian sightseeing tickets are separate products for visitors without winter-sports equipment; a summit return ticket is not a ski pass. The operator warns that, when a ski descent to the valley is unavailable, a ski pass may allow only one ascent into the area. Ask before planning repeated valley-boardings.
The operator’s FIS rules require controlled speed adapted to terrain, snow, weather and traffic; respect people ahead, markings and closures, and assist after an accident. Glacier scenery is not evidence that unmarked terrain is safe. This listing supplies access information rather than an off-piste itinerary, an uphill permit or an avalanche assessment.
Follow the local piste/Skiroute legend and the current valley-run report. A closed Schwarze Pfanne or Waldabfahrt means that a visible lower route cannot be assumed to provide the way home. Plan a lift descent while the relevant station still operates. The official map lists 144 as its emergency number; its safety boundary and closed areas remain authoritative on the mountain.
Flohpark Hintertux is the practice area beside the Aue parking garage at the Hintertux valley station, with conveyors and beginner lifts; the operator announces December 2026 reopening and free access without a ski pass. Kidsslope via Ramsmoos and Funslope via Tuxerjoch require a pass and are explicitly unsuitable for absolute beginners. They also have a December reopening notice. Family facilities are therefore a documented category, not a claim that every feature is open in October.
The official directories list Tuxertal and other local ski schools, and rental providers including Intersport Hintertux and Sport Nenner at valley and mountain locations. Confirm a specific shop, fitting, lesson and meeting place before travelling. Betterpark is a separate freestyle offer with autumn and spring periods; inspect its daily setup/status. Three selected lower pistes/Skiroutes documented from the inspected 2026/27 map; no unsourced route dimensions or live-open guarantee.
