Andean alpine skiing above Bariloche, with mountain sectors, a learning area at the base and distinct rules for touring and adaptive access.
011MAPS / UNDERSTAND THE AREA
Explore mapped pistes and lifts, compare the official plans and choose the right starting base. Check current opening separately.
Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: complete community-map coverage and a local grade for every mapped way. Community map for planning. Coverage may be incomplete. Grey pistes have no confirmed local grade. Check the official plan and current opening; mapped geometry does not grant access. Historical: the external operator winter map is the previously inspected 2026 edition. Unconfirmed: the operator location page now links a summer map, so a current winter-map replacement is not established; summer artwork is omitted.
HOW THE AREA CONNECTS
Access: Resort base and authorised learning-area lifts.
First lessons and progression toward Zorrito; use the area assigned by your instructor.
Access: Authorised lifts serving Princesa, Nubes, Punta Nevada and Cóndor.
Different local grades, weather exposure and return connections; mapped terrain is not proof of opening.
Choose the resort-base arrival, current road and parking arrangements before travelling from Bariloche. The pin does not identify a surveyed lift entrance or guarantee step-free access.
Base / Play Park learning terrain is distinct from Princesa, Nubes, Punta Nevada and Cóndor. Use the winter plan for the local grades and the sector suited to your ability.
Verify the open return to your chosen base and the last lift. Touring is restricted to the signed circuit and permitted hours; current patrol instructions take precedence over the map.
Historical: the previously inspected 2026 winter original remains an external reference. The operator location page now links a summer map, which is not accepted as a winter replacement. Unconfirmed: a currently linked new winter edition and remote-preview/reproduction basis have not been established; no operator artwork is copied or embedded.

A detailed planning guide to Catedral, its official 2026 piste map and three selected locally graded runs. The 2026 ski season has ended; exact 2027 dates, general skier fares and daily operating status remain unconfirmed.
Official 2026 winter map and three selected named pistes
Resident-pass restrictions kept separate from visitor products
Practical road, bus, adaptive-access and safety guidance
Catedral is the alpine ski area above San Carlos de Bariloche in Río Negro. The operator advertises 1,200 skiable hectares, 25 lifts and 67 pistes on its current winter-activities page. These are advertised inventory figures, not a fresh measurement or a count of open facilities. The base learning area and mountain sectors around Princesa, Nubes, Punta Nevada and Cóndor have different access and return connections.
Historical: the retained operator winter map is the previously inspected 2026 edition; the operator location page now links a summer map, which is omitted here. Its local legend means green easy/beginner, blue intermediate, red difficult/advanced and black very difficult/expert. This guide counts only three visually checked named segments: blue Central, red Sextuple and red El Atajo. Del Bosque appears in different colours on different segments, so its name alone must not be assigned a single grade. The mapped Nordic circuit and touring terrain are separate from these alpine piste rows.
The map distinguishes six-seat, combination, four-seat, three-seat and two-seat chairs, the Amancay gondola, magic carpets and surface lifts. Cable Carril is marked for pedestrians. An inventory symbol does not show whether that lift is operating, which passengers it may carry today or whether a return connection is available. The current winter page advertises progression from Play Park to Zorrito using Princesita; ask the school which area is authorised for your lesson.
Unconfirmed: a dated 2027 ski timetable and current individual lift/piste operations. The operator’s 12 October announcement closes the 2026 ski season. Its current visitor banner says Monday–Saturday 09:30–16:00; the 2027 FAQ gives only a broad July–late September winter window. Neither establishes a 2027 ski timetable. The daily-status page returned successfully but exposed no usable lift or piste rows. Check CatedralApp, the daily report and staff instructions before setting out; do not infer opening from old social posts, mapped lines or this archive photograph.
Historical: the road-chain restriction described here is dated 30 July 2026. The destination is the resort base at Cerro Catedral, outside central Bariloche. Use the official approach information and the final resort signs; the directory pin is only an approximate base reference. Snow and ice can trigger road controls. A municipal notice dated 30 July 2026 required fitted physical chains on every vehicle type for the climb. That notice illustrates a dated restriction, not today’s road status: check current municipal advice and obey on-site controls before driving.
Conflicting sources: the Line 55 route descriptions differ. Line 55 connects the city and Catedral. The tourism page still lists both Bustillo and Los Pioneros variants, while a municipal notice effective 1 October 2025 says the route remains via Los Pioneros only. Mi Bus is the linked operator, but its site presented a security-verification page during this check. The exact current departures, fare and last return therefore remain unconfirmed. Check the dated operator timetable before travel; do not rely on the older route description.
Unconfirmed: the current parking/transfer tariff, final transfer and continuous accessible transport. Playa del Valle advertises parking with transfer to the base during authorised service hours, without a fixed bay or vehicle custody. Reconfirm the tariff and last transfer. Free Playa Sur parking for eligible CUD holders requires current documents, the access symbol and a vehicle associated with the beneficiary. This benefit does not establish a step-free bus, transfer, toilet or lift route.
Unconfirmed: a general adult 2027 visitor skier-day quote. The live tariff inspected here offers a 2026 pedestrian day at ARS 90,000, while the shop describes a pedestrian ascent and descent that excludes skis and snowboards. It is not a 2027 visitor ski pass. A general adult 2027 skier day quote was not established. Confirm the actual season, date, age category, lift coverage, ChipCard and purchase conditions before paying; Flexi, season, resident, professional and Nordic products have different scopes.
Conflicting sources: the resident-pass headline and PDF differ on lift-use times. Unconfirmed: the exact sixteen excluded holiday dates. For the selected 2027 resident promotion, the linked purchase terms quote ARS 640,000 plus ARS 10,000 for a ChipCard if needed. Eligibility requires the stated residence evidence; it is not a visitor offer. Sixteen consecutive Buenos Aires school-holiday days are excluded, with the exact blocked dates still to be announced. Although the web headline says entry from 09:00 on enabled trunk lifts, the PDF restricts use of this pass on Amancay to 11:00 onwards in June–August, then 09:00 onwards from September. These are pass-use limits, not promised lift-opening times. Keep the exception until the operator clarifies it. Read the separate cancellation/non-use provisions rather than assuming weather refunds or carry-forward.
Respect marked boundaries, closures and patrol instructions. The operator prohibits entry during PIDA avalanche-control work and during the stated 17:00–09:00 closure. Grooming machines can use tensioned winch cables whose position changes abruptly. The absence of a machine in view does not make a closed piste safe. Touring ascent is limited to the signed circuit; its line on a map is not permission to enter outside authorised times.
Unconfirmed: off-season patrol availability. Outside marked pistes, normal patrol coverage does not apply and the operator warns of longer rescue response and additional charges. Check current avalanche information and obtain suitable expertise and equipment before considering mountain terrain. The actual map prints SOS +54 294 4409040; identify the exact location and follow patrol instructions. This guide does not confirm off-season patrol availability.
Conflicting sources: the resident document and service terms cite different Snow Park clause numbers. The 2027 service terms prohibit snowboard use on lifts with T-shaped tow bars and permit staff to restrict boarding for ability, weather or operations. Clause 49 requires specific accident insurance and a separate dedicated ChipCard for Snow Park access, when open. The resident document points to clause 48 instead; check the actual current requirements with the ticket office before purchase.
Unconfirmed: actual service hours, stock and individual accessible facilities. The official map locates restaurants, toilets, medical facilities and information points, while the city tourism service lists equipment rental and schools at the base. Symbols and general listings do not establish current opening hours, stock or a particular accessible facility. The operator’s office is in Edificio Telesilla Séxtuple, first floor, Base Cerro Catedral. Use its customer-service channel or the official shop contact info@catedralaltapatagonia.com for current arrangements.
Unconfirmed: the individual meaning of the PDF’s run-together Amancay/Diente de Caballo wording. Fundación Desafío Bariloche describes adaptive lessons with an instructor and assistant and supplied adaptive equipment; ordinary alpine equipment and the lift pass are excluded from its listed lesson price. Book individual support in advance. The 2027 operator terms list Séxtuple, Lynch and Triple Park among permitted adaptive lifts, cap simultaneous use at Punta Nevada and reserve Nubes and Cóndor lifts for experts under stated conditions. Only the corresponding green/blue pistes are generally authorised, with limited expert red-piste exceptions; black pistes are excluded. Required chair restraints and approved evacuation anchors apply. The PDF’s run-together Amancay/Diente de Caballo wording needs individual clarification. Parking concessions alone do not grant unrestricted lift or piste access.
Selected source-checked references only. Use the complete official plan for the network; this list is not the resort’s total piste count or live opening report.
