SKI AREA LAYOUTThe operator advertises 58 km and a 31-row status list covering several activity types. Community segments and these mixed rows are not a reconciled piste inventory.
UPLIFTThe operator’s status page lists a gondola, four chairlifts and seven surface lifts. The community map splits the gondola into two alignments; mapped ways are not lift counts.
LOCAL DIFFICULTYFollow local beginner, easy, intermediate and hard classifications and the signs on site. Generic community difficulty is not converted into piste colours.

Colours show the published skiing status or confirmed operating calendar, not whether every lift is running. Check the operator before travel.
Confirmed dates change colours automatically in the place’s local time. Tentative dates, conflicting reports and expired checks remain black.
Unconfirmed: the operator’s map landing page links a 2022 interactive directory and a 2026-named image, but the current artwork edition and lawful remote-preview basis have not been verified; the artwork is omitted. The independent map contains 29 named community downhill segments and 13 passenger alignments across Sitnyakovo, Yastrebets and Markudjik. The gondola uses two OSM ways; these objects are not an operator piste or lift inventory. Anonymous connectors, the unassigned conveyor and a tiny landcover outline are omitted. Generic grades remain grey. No comparison with operator artwork, current installation, opening, permission, safe snow, usable return or navigation is claimed.
Access: Hotel Rila side, Sitnyakovo Express and Martinovi Baraki Express
The operator places the learning area opposite Hotel Rila and describes lower forest terrain from 1,350 to 1,780 m. Check the appropriate open slope and lesson meeting point.
02
Yastrebets
Access: Separate gondola lower station and Yastrebets Express
The operator describes terrain from 1,340 to 2,369 m, with named Popangelov and Yastrebets slopes. A listed shuttle is conditional on the chairlift operating.
03
Markudjik
Access: Upper gondola area and operator-listed Markudjik lifts
The operator describes high terrain from 2,144 to 2,550 m. Weather, wind and the final connecting lift require a fresh local check; nearby off-piste lines are excluded.
01
Choose Hotel Rila or the gondola base
The operator places the learning area and ski school opposite Hotel Rila, with a separate gondola lower station. Confirm your precise lesson, equipment and drop-off location before travelling; the planning pin does not establish an entrance or step-free path.
02
Check the connection between sectors
Sitnyakovo, Yastrebets and Markudjik are distinct centres. The gondola and Yastrebets Express serve different access points, and the published shuttle description depends on the chairlift operating. Ask staff which appropriate marked connections are actually available.
03
Plan the entire return before going up
Confirm the last usable connecting lift and an open marked descent suitable for your ability, or the permitted download arrangement. Retained summer hours, the conditional shuttle and community lines do not guarantee a return to Hotel Rila, your hotel or a bus.

Explicit seasonal, ticket and service limitations
Three centres with distinct starting points
Borosport identifies three managed alpine centres: lower Sitnyakovo around Hotel Rila, Yastrebets with its gondola and chairlift, and high Markudjik. The operator describes marked skiing of different levels, including a learning area opposite Hotel Rila. Choose your starting base and an open marked route suited to your ability before ascending.
Conflicting sources: the ski-area page describes Markudjik at 2,144–2,550 m but separately lists a highest skiing point of 2,560 m. It advertises 58 km of marked pistes, while the 31-row status list also includes a sledging zone, children’s park, biathlon/Nordic centre and freestyle zones. These are different scopes, not a verified count of 31 alpine pistes.
The independent map retains named community downhill alignments across the three centres. It omits anonymous connections, an unassigned conveyor and a landcover outline; Nordic, touring, freestyle and off-piste terrain are outside its scope. Generic community grades remain grey. A line is neither a current-opening report nor authority to ski it.
The lift-status page lists the Yastrebets gondola, Sitnyakovo Express, Martinovi Baraki Express, Yastrebets Express, Markudjik 2 and seven named surface lifts. The community map represents the gondola in two sections, not two independent lifts. It does not verify passenger capacity, a new installation or every learning facility.
Conflicting sources: the current lift page says all lifts are closed until winter while retaining gondola hours ending at 18:00 and summer closure labels. The general terms describe a broader equipment inventory than the 12-row status page. Do not adopt either list as a newly verified complete installation inventory or carry summer hours into a winter plan.
Unconfirmed: the coming winter’s individual final uplifts and complete usable return are not established. The area page describes a gondola-to-Yastrebets Express shuttle every 15 minutes only when that chairlift runs; this is not a dated 2026/27 timetable. Confirm the appropriate open connection, last boarding and marked descent with staff before changing sector.
For a first visit, choose between the Hotel Rila learning/ski-school side and the separate gondola lower station before arranging a transfer. The local destination portal describes the Sofia–Samokov–Borovets road approach via Pancharevo, Kokalyane and Pasarel. Allow for actual winter weather, traffic and your final walk with equipment.
Historical: the municipal transport document lists Sofia–Samokov and Samokov–Borovets buses, prices in BGN and seasonal restrictions, but gives no verified 2026/27 validity here. The destination portal’s general half-hourly description is not a booked connection. Confirm current departures, the actual stop, baggage space, payment and the last return with the carrier or station.
Unconfirmed: current parking tariffs, a particular bus connection and a step-free route from a bay or stop to a suitable lift have not been established. Ask your accommodation and Borosport to confirm the correct drop-off, meeting place, equipment carriage and any boarding assistance before travel; the location pin alone cannot establish accessibility.
The inspected online shop labels its early offers 2026/27. For an adult aged 23–64 it displays EUR 56.60 for a new one-day pass including a EUR 2.60 reusable carrier; night skiing is excluded. Check the final date, category, included carrier and checkout total before buying. A two-way sightseeing ticket is a different product from a ski pass.
Historical: the general tariff page is still labelled winter 2025/26 and lists EUR 54 for an adult day pass and EUR 21 for an adult/youth two-way gondola or Sitnyakovo ticket. Those retained tariffs are not independently verified current-season offers; the day-pass difference also reflects the new shop’s carrier-inclusive display.
Conflicting sources: the Epic package header promotes booking by 14 December, but its ski/snowboard subsections say 30 November. General pass conditions and individual services have different cancellation and eligibility scope. Verify the actual offer, night-ski inclusion, age documents, non-transferability, collection and applicable terms before payment; a sales deadline does not confirm snow or opening.
The operator’s safety code requires control of speed and equipment, space for people ahead, care when entering or crossing, and keeping blind or narrow places clear. Respect signs and patrol instructions, give rescue staff room and help alert rescue after an accident. Choose a piste that matches both your skill and the actual conditions.
The general terms prohibit skiing on closed runs, after the ski centre closes or on unlit night sections. They reserve closures for weather, avalanche conditions, maintenance, grooming and events. Uphill or off-piste permission is not established by this alpine guide; no mapped line overrides barriers or staff instructions.
The operator describes included accident/rescue cover only within its marked ski area and official operating hours, with freestyle and freeride exclusions; it does not establish full medical or repatriation cover. Check your own policy and the actual product terms. The current school page lists Mountain Rescue Service contacts +359 887 100 243 and +359 887 100 238; obtain the current local alarm procedure on arrival.
Borosport lists rental shops opposite and inside Hotel Rila and in the gondola building, with storage and a ski/snowboard workshop. Its 2026/27 rental table gives EUR 20 for one adult day of standard skis, poles and boots; helmet hire is separate at EUR 5. These are advertised service prices, not confirmation of availability or a fitted setup.
Conflicting sources: the school page says beginner groups form only on Sundays, while the Epic package page says Sundays and Mondays. The school contact hours end at 17:00 in one page and 16:30 in the children’s page; the general terms allow a 30-minute lesson delay while the school rules use five minutes. Confirm your exact lesson’s meeting time, group entry day and lateness/cancellation terms in advance.
Unconfirmed: adapted equipment, a suitable instructor, a step-free transfer and individual lift assistance have not been established. The children’s page describes ski school for ages 4–7 and creche for 1–4, while other package wording says creche 1–3; confirm eligibility before booking. For arrangements, the operator lists ski_school@borovets-bg.com and +359 882 19 68 48 opposite Hotel Rila, plus info@borovets-bg.com and +359 889 607 000 at its hotel Adventure Center.
