Valdres Skimaraton is scheduled for Saturday 20 March 2027, with classic skiing from Aurdal, Juvike or Yddin to Beitostølen in Norway. The organiser lists a 67 km mass-start race alongside unranked tours. The shorter marathon’s 41 versus 42 km source discrepancy is explained below.

01 / EVENT OVERVIEW

What defines this edition.

The organiser’s 21 October 2026 announcement and current practical guide identify the 2027 edition. The 67 km route starts at Damtjernmyra on Aurdalsåsen; the shorter tours start at Juvike and Yddin. All finish in central Beitostølen. Programme and transport times below are local Europe/Oslo, UTC+01:00 on race day. Weather and jury decisions can change or cancel the programme.

01
Distances and time-recording discrepancy

Conflicting sources: the organiser’s practical and distance pages describe Juvike–Beitostølen as 41 km, while the actual 2027 EQ Timing product calls it Helmaraton 42 km. The 67 km tour is sold as “without timing”, although the practical guide says its time is recorded and published. For 41/24 km the practical guide offers a publication choice, whereas the distance pages say times are published. Confirm the selected product and timing choice; no final measured 2027 alignment is inferred.

02
Mountain route and aid references

The organiser lists the 67 km course via Pilset, Heimåsgrinde, Juvike, Skatrudstølen, Yddin, Javnlie and Grønåsvegen. It describes seven intermediate food/drink stations, then the finish. Published shorter-course station references differ with their starting point. Unconfirmed: final 2027 route authorisation, exact alignment, station locations, accessibility and dietary provision. No organiser route graphic, video or Garmin track is reproduced or treated as a navigation file.

03
Return begins with the correct start choice

All formats finish in Beitostølen, not at their starting point. The organiser’s return bus does not visit the Juvike or Yddin start areas. A skier leaving a car there needs a separately confirmed recovery plan; the village map point is not a transport or route guarantee.

04
Confirm the age and class before entering

Conflicting sources: the organiser says the unranked tours have no age limit, while the linked NSF rules, updated 6 October 2026, give minimum ages of 13 for Trim races up to 40 km and 15 for longer races; family-class rules differ. Confirm the applicable class, age, supervision and insurance with the organiser before entering. No general eligibility for children is inferred.

FORMAT67 km classic mass-start race and unranked tours; shorter-distance discrepancy explained below

The organiser offers a ranked 67 km mass start and unranked 67 km, 41 km and 24 km tours. Its mass-start table begins with women’s and men’s 16–19 categories and says younger entrants may join.

04 / SPECTATOR ACCESS

The pin is not the gate.

The point follows OpenStreetMap’s Beitostølen village node. The organiser places the finish in the village centre, with starts at Aurdalsåsen, Juvike and Yddin. This approximate village reference does not locate the finish line, an accessible entrance, a parking space or an approved race route.

The organiser lists a 07:00 bus from opposite Lodge 900 in Beitostølen for the Aurdal start, via Heggenes at 07:15, Fagernes at 07:40, Leira at 07:50 and Aurdal church at 08:00. For Juvike or Yddin it lists separate 09:00 departures from Beitostølen, via Heggenes at 09:15, and buses from Aurdal Fjellpark at 08:45 via the listed Aurdalsåsen/E16 stops. Reserve the correct destination in the entry. Unconfirmed: final boarding locations, arrival times, accessible vehicles, spectator entitlement and capacity.

The practical guide lists return buses approximately every half-hour from 15:00 to 18:00, or when full, stopping on request at Heggenes, Fagernes, Leira, Aurdal church, Damtjern, Ravangskollen, Danebuvegen and Aurdal Fjellpark. They do not return to Juvike or Yddin. Unconfirmed: final 2027 dispatch, capacity, accessibility, onward connections and transport after the last service. Arrange a confirmed complete return before travelling.

Aurdalsåsen start-area vehicle access is very limited. One paragraph reserves start parking for cup participants, while the later parking paragraph says there is none. Conflicting sources: the scope of the cup parking exception is inconsistent on the same practical page. Do not rely on that exception; use confirmed permitted parking and transport. Juvike is approached from Fv 51 through Melbybråten, Køllstadvegen and Etnlivegen; Yddin via Heggenes, Robølsvegen and Skagsvegen. Unconfirmed: event road controls, parking capacity and individual step-free access.

Label and waterproof your return bag. The organiser lists a marked bus on Fetjasetvegen for 67 km entrants and marked trailers at Juvike/Yddin for the shorter tours, with collection beside Lodge 900 at the finish. It lists post-race showers/sauna at Radisson Blu Mountain Resort for NOK 50 paid at reception. Unconfirmed: final 2027 hotel naming, shower service, luggage supervision and individual assistance; the current host resort uses the Beito Resort name.
