01 / EVENT OVERVIEW

What defines this edition.

The organiser sells timed and untimed marathon entries separately, alongside shorter distances. The race takes place in Arctic terrain where weather and polar-bear precautions shape operations. Historical: the linked start-time page still identifies 2026, and the homepage course-image destination is labelled 2026. Neither establishes the final 2027 route or cut-offs.

Cross-country skiing
01
Course location and older cut-offs

Conflicting sources: the course page places the arena at the start of Todalen, while the explicitly 2026 start page describes the plain at the start of Adventdalen. Historical: that page prints Frithamn before Bødalen at 12:00, Gangskaret before Gangdalen at 12:30 and a 16:00 finish limit, changeable by the jury. Unconfirmed: final 2027 alignment, checkpoint positions, cut-offs and withdrawal transport are not confirmed. No course artwork is reproduced or traced; the public point is a host reference.

02
Food, water and baggage

Conflicting sources: the dedicated safety page lists marathon feeds around 12, 16, 21, 27 and 30 km plus the finish; the overview omits 21 and 27 km. The course page warns there is no water-refill facility at the arena or on course. Unconfirmed: final 2027 feed locations, drinks, dietary provision and refill arrangements must be checked before starting. The organiser describes toilets, changing space and labelled baggage handling, without establishing secure storage or accessible facilities.

03
Entry changes, cancellation and personal data

The 2027 terms make entry binding without illness or injury refunds. An upgrade costs the difference; a shorter distance gives no difference refund. They allow retention of 50% for cancellation before race day and the full entry fee for sudden race-day weather or force majeure; missing a relocated or rescheduled race gives no refund entitlement. Banquet charges are non-refundable for illness or cancellation. Terms also cover public participant/results lists and broad photograph reuse, including onward commercial use. Unconfirmed: final checkout charges, person-to-person transfer rights and any individual cancellation policy require the actual contract.

04
Photograph context and licence

Historical: Bjørn Christian Tørrissen’s genuine 18 April 2022 photograph looks across Adventfjorden from Hiorthfjellet towards Longyearbyen and its snowy mountain backdrop. The original JPEG is unchanged, with responsive display crops under CC BY-SA 4.0. This is archive host-area context, not the race, its 2027 course, an access route or current conditions.

05
Licence, age and insurance scope

Conflicting sources: the entry terms specify Norwegian licence cover for ages 13–70, while the class-page FAQ says it becomes voluntary at 80 and retains a NOK 250 example beside a NOK 300 one-race charge. The current NSF 2026/27 page says licence is required from the 13th birthday and distinguishes race-day-only cover from annual cover. Unconfirmed: individual age eligibility, overseas insurance acceptance and the applicable licence charge must be resolved in the current entry process; a FIS code alone is not proof of insurance.

FORMATMain timed 42 km classic cross-country race. Untimed marathon, half-marathon and 10 km entries are separate products.

The organiser lists women’s and men’s timed-marathon age bands 15–16, 17–18, 19–20, 21–30, 31–40, 41–50, 51–60, 61–70 and 71+, with a minimum age of 15. Entrants estimate their finish time for seeding.

Timed 42 km marathon. Untimed 42 km, 21 km, 10 km, banquet, accommodation and flights are separate products. The transport page describes race-day return buses as included in entry.. 04 / SPECTATOR ACCESS

The pin is not the gate.

Visit Svalbard supplies this broad Longyearbyen event reference. Unconfirmed: it does not identify the final 2027 start gate, bus stop, race-office entrance or step-free approach. The organiser’s course page names Todalen, while its retained 2026 start page names Adventdalen; use final organiser directions, not this point, for arrival.

The organiser recommends arranging flights and accommodation before entry and describes airport bus or taxi connections to Longyearbyen. Conflicting sources: the live transport page and homepage give 07:40 for marathon buses, the course page gives 07:35 and the 2027 programme retains 07:00 with a direction to updated transport information. The transport page names Nybyen via Funken Lodge, Funken Lodge via Svalbardbutikken and Mary Ann via Radisson Blu Polar Hotel. Unconfirmed: the final 2027 pickup stop and time, flight schedule, capacity, fares and accessible transfer must be checked with the actual providers.

Conflicting sources: the programme gives a 16:00 return bus, while the transport page describes regular returns from 12:00 to about 16:15. The course page says private-car parking is unavailable. The homepage advertises a separate NOK 950 banquet at Kulturhuset at 19:00 with doors at 18:00; the programme calls 18:00 the banquet. Unconfirmed: final spectator admission, return service, banquet schedule, dietary assistance, adapted participation and step-free access are not established. Do not plan an independent walk or ski trip out to the arena from the host pin.
