What defines this edition.
An early planning guide checked against the organiser’s dedicated 2027 main-race page, current participant agreement and Snow Farm access information. All times are local New Zealand time, Pacific/Auckland (NZST, UTC+12:00). Several supporting pages still cover 2026; final 2027 entry, route and travel instructions need another check.
The organiser describes a stadium start via Highlander, Mary’s Trail, Hanging Valley, Musterers Flat, Meadow Hut and Tranquillity before returning to the base. This is a planning description: the organisers and Technical Director confirm the final course according to snow, weather and safety.
The official map page embeds Snow Farm’s course application, dated 22 August 2026, with a 21 km lap, two-lap 42 km option and bad-weather alternatives. Its GPX and aid-station positions are previous-edition references, not confirmation of the final 2027 distance or route.
The current main-race page sets 12:00 as the lap-two cut-off after a 09:00 start. Officials consider conditions and skier wellbeing. A skier stopped after one lap may receive a 21 km time in a special category and cannot claim a 42 km podium place. Follow the actual race-day instructions.
The dedicated 2027 main-race page gives a minimum age of 18, unless prior arrangements have been made with a coach. It lists age categories below 20 in two-year groups and from 20 in five-year groups. The homepage says further details and entries are coming; linked entry controls still point to older event codes. Confirm actual 2027 eligibility and registration with the organiser before paying.

The homepage announces the 2027 date and says entries and further details will follow. A working 2027 registration has not been verified.
The main 42 km race is separate from the shorter events and visitor packages. Confirm the exact edition, eligibility and what is included before booking.. No 2027 entry price or closing date has been verified. The pricing page explicitly lists 2026 amounts; entry links retain MM25 and MM26 event codes. Do not treat those as 2027 offers. The current participant agreement generally excludes refunds after event cancellation or voluntary withdrawal. It describes a medical-withdrawal exception with a NZD 50 administration charge, organiser-controlled transfers and distance changes, and possible alternatives offered if the event is cancelled. Applicable deadlines remain unconfirmed; read the full agreement before entry.

Approximate start-area reference from the organiser-linked 2026 GPX. It is not a surveyed 2027 start line, parking entrance or accessible drop-off. Snow Farm and Cardrona Alpine Resort are different ski areas on opposite sides of the valley; follow Snow Farm arrival instructions.
Snow Farm gives approximate drives of 40 minutes / 33 km from Wānaka and 60 minutes / 57 km from Queenstown. Its access road is unsealed. Carry suitable chains and fit them where signs require; practise beforehand because the chain bays are unstaffed. Allow extra time for winter conditions.
Snow Farm lists demand-based Wānaka charter transport and no regular Queenstown shuttle. These general services do not establish race-day seats or access. The organiser’s older athlete page mentions a booked Wānaka Hotel bus but also retains a departure-time placeholder; no 2027 race-bus timetable, price or reservation has been verified.
Confirm race-day parking, spectator admission and individual step-free parking, transfer and viewing arrangements directly with Snow Farm and the organiser. Final accessible routes and 2027 spectator conditions have not been verified. The older welcome dinner, bib-collection and prize-giving details are not a confirmed 2027 programme.
