01 / EVENT OVERVIEW

What defines this edition.

Choose a viewing destination before planning the journey: the elevated Wengernalp/Girmschbiel fan zone, the Innerwengen finish arena and the race start have different approaches. The World Cup village in Wengen hosts the evening programme. This guide covers the three race days; the organiser separately lists conditional downhill training on 12–14 January.

Alpine skiing
01
Race terrain and spectator scope

The organiser’s general downhill description identifies the Lauberhornschulter start and Innerwengen finish, with an advertised 4.5 km length and 1,028 m drop. The separate slalom description places its start near the Innerwengen chairlift’s upper station on Allmend and its finish in Innerwengen. Unconfirmed: those general course descriptions do not establish the final 2027 start positions, snow preparation, safety layout or spectator access. No race geometry or operator artwork is reproduced or traced.

02
Training and programme reconciliation

The organiser lists downhill training on 12, 13 and 14 January at a provisional 12:30. Unconfirmed: training sessions, access and any final start times require the current official programme; FIS’s 00:00 training entry is not accepted as a midnight start. The FIS-linked programme was last updated on 30 September 2026 and contains team meetings as well as public events; a team captains’ meeting is not a spectator session.

03
Mixed editions and midnight wording

Historical: the FAQ retains 2025 fondue dates, the 95th edition’s SRF2 broadcast and a ski-pass collection date in January 2026. Its transport page still links night-train files named 2026. These do not establish 2027 arrangements. Conflicting sources: Thursday’s English programme prints “00:00 pm” for the village closure, whereas the German programme prints 24:00. No Thursday closing time is asserted from that inconsistent notation.

04
Genuine winter host context

Historical: Jpatokal’s genuine 15 December 2021 photograph shows Wengen in winter from the Wengernalpbahn near Allmend. The original CC BY-SA 4.0 JPEG is unchanged, with responsive CSS display crops. It shows the host village, not the 2027 races, course preparation or current snow.

FORMATMen’s World Cup super-G, downhill and two-run slalom

International federation competition, with entries through the applicable FIS and national-team procedures. Spectator admission is separate from athlete entry; this is not an open public ski race.

Territory matters

Historical: the FAQ’s SRF2 statement refers to the 95th edition. Unconfirmed: final 2027 broadcasters, streaming rights and territory restrictions are not established. The FIS event page is the edition reference, not a promise of live video.

04 / SPECTATOR ACCESS

The pin is not the gate.

OpenStreetMap village node 240096898 locates Wengen only. It is not a race start, finish entrance, station platform, wheelchair meeting point or marked spectator route. Use the organiser’s final destination-specific arrival instructions.

The organiser states that admission tickets include the return rail journey from Interlaken Ost within the specified validity area. Its routes send Girmschbiel visitors via Grindelwald Terminal–Eigergletscher–Kleine Scheidegg–Wengernalp, and finish-arena visitors via Lauterbrunnen–Wengen or Grindelwald Terminal–Männlichen–Wengen, then an approximately 20-minute walk. Arrive early and follow the destination on the purchased ticket. Unconfirmed: final 2027 extra-train times, late return connections and actual travel capacity are not established; the retained FAQ’s 02:10 last departure is not accepted as a confirmed 2027 service.

Access to the start requires snow-sports equipment and a ski pass; the organiser says pedestrians without that equipment cannot use the Lauberhorn chairlift. Do not choose the start solely because it appears among standard-ticket locations. The Innerwengen grandstand is uncovered standing accommodation, with no ordinary seating and no camping chairs. The FAQ describes unticketed World Cup-village access subject to capacity; lounge admission is a separate product.

The FAQ advertises a few wheelchair spaces in the finish grandstand and says each wheelchair visitor may bring two companions; enquiries go to ticketing@lauberhorn.ch. Unconfirmed: 2027 space allocation, companion pricing, reservation conditions and the complete step-free rail, transfer, toilet and arena journey remain unverified. The linked detailed accessibility sheet returns 404. Contact the ticket office about individual needs before booking; the ordinary 20-minute footpath is not an accessibility assurance.
