01 / EVENT OVERVIEW
What defines this edition.
The organiser-linked EQ Timing event and its Info 2027 bulletin identify the new edition and programme. Historical: the Norwegian homepage still contains a 22 March 2025 edition sentence, while the English page labels some classes as introduced in 2026. Those retained labels are not the 2027 date. This guide concerns Kvaløya Skimaraton, a separate event from Tromsø Skimaraton, Masters World Cup and Marcialonga Bodø.
The exact 2027 registration bulletin confirms the separate starts and common finish. Historical: the homepage describes the marathon through Finnvikdalen, Storelva and Håkøybotn, and shorter routes toward Straumsbukta; its retained 2025 sentence prevents treating every detail as a final 2027 commitment. Unconfirmed: final course geometry, measured ascent, aid layout and snow-dependent changes are not established. No organiser course artwork is reproduced.
Historical: the Norwegian page describes a 14:00 passage deadline at Håkøybotn/Skavelva, four drink stations and weather/snow changes. Unconfirmed: that cut-off, aid provision, withdrawal transport and final 2027 safety bulletin are not independently edition-confirmed. Recheck before choosing a distance and follow current officials; an old timetable is not a safe return guarantee.
Historical: Swaanson photographed Straumen farm near Straumsbukta on 4 July 2020. This genuine summer host-area view shows turf-roofed buildings and the fjord, not the race finish, 2027 course, winter conditions or access. Original JPEG retained; responsive display crops under CC BY-SA 4.0.
The official contact page lists rennkontor@kvaloyaskimaraton.no and +47 954 76 552, with the office at Skihuset, Storelva. Conflicting sources: that page gives Friday collection from 18:30, whereas the homepage says 18:00; both list 08:00–10:00 on race day. The undated office notice does not settle the final 2027 collection window. Confirm the correct base and booked bus before travel.
The 2027 information offers senior 42 km competition, junior and senior 21 km competition, recreational 21 km and untimed 12 km, plus a mini marathon. The English organiser page gives a minimum age of 21 for the marathon and recommends adult accompaniment for children under 13 in recreational 21 km. Participants aged 13 or older need a valid ski licence/insurance; buy the applicable one-time licence during registration if needed. Unconfirmed: final class allocation, licence charges and individual eligibility should be checked in the selected 2027 entry.

Saturday, March 6, 2027
Untimed recreational 21 km · optional early start
Info 2027 offers this window from Storelva, or participation at the back of the 11:00 mass start. Choose the correct registration class; this is not the 42 km starting point.Saturday, March 6, 2027
Untimed recreational 12 km · Håkøybotn
The 2027 bulletin lists a free-start window at Håkøybotn community hall. It does not start at Storelva or Sandnessund.Saturday, March 6, 2027
42 km and 21 km · separate mass starts
42 km begins by Sandnessund cemetery, described as about 2.5 km north of Sandnessund bridge, signed from road 863 toward Finnvika. The 21 km mass start is at Storelva ski stadium; recreational entrants line up behind competitors. Seeding applies at the marathon start.Saturday, March 6, 2027
Mini marathon · Straumsbukta
The 2027 bulletin confirms start and finish in Straumsbukta. Conflicting sources: the Norwegian homepage describes the mini marathon as both 2.5 km and 1.5 km. Its final 2027 length is not established; neither number is treated as confirmed.03 / TICKETS & BROADCAST

2027 participant registration listed · exact product and terms apply
Separate competition, recreational and mini-marathon entries; ski licence and booked transport are additional. Info 2027 lists 42 km at NOK 650 through 21 February and NOK 750 from 22 February. For 12/21 km it lists ages 0–12 at NOK 150, ages 13–20 at NOK 350 then 450, adult recreation at NOK 450 then 550, and adult competition at NOK 500 then 600; not every class is offered at every distance. Mini marathon is NOK 150. The bulletin says registration remains open until the start; this is no guarantee of remaining places. Conflicting sources: the homepage lists adult 21 km competition at NOK 450/550, differing from Info 2027’s NOK 500/600. Check the exact dated class and final payable total before payment. Unconfirmed: transaction fees, current licence charges, final class availability and any organiser-specific refund exception are not verified. EQ Timing’s linked general terms describe a binding entry and no refund for illness, injury, cancellation or force majeure unless the organiser’s terms provide otherwise.

The organiser names Straumsbukta school as the common finish. This point uses the named school in OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL. Unconfirmed: the exact 2027 finish entrance, bus stop, parking allocation and accessible approach are not established. The point is a planning reference, not a course or navigation map.
The English organiser page says the return bus from Straumsbukta to Storelva must be booked. Historical: the Norwegian page describes a 10:00 Storelva-terminal bus to the 42 km start, return shuttles via Håkøybotn and Storelva until 15:30, and no post-race onward bus from Storelva to the marathon start. It also lists NOK 50 outbound and NOK 100 return. Unconfirmed: those fares, departure times, stops, capacity and final return are not edition-confirmed for 2027. Book and verify the complete journey, including how to recover a car at the separate start; the return to Storelva does not promise a return to Sandnessund.
Historical: the Norwegian page mentions Håkøybotn parking, labelled bag transport from the 42 km and 21 km starts, limited changing/showers and a café at the finish. Unconfirmed: the 2027 capacity, bag arrangements, spectator access, accessible toilets, adapted participation and step-free bus/venue journey are not established. Ask the organiser about individual requirements; the school point and summer photograph do not prove accessibility.
