01 / EVENT OVERVIEW
What defines this edition.
This guide covers the main Saturday race, rather than the whole SkiBirken festival. All times are local to Norway, Europe/Oslo (UTC+01:00 on race day). Some current practical links still describe the previous edition.
Entrants must turn at least 16 by 31 December 2027. Elite qualification and Para classification or assistance requirements are separate; confirm eligibility with Birken before entering.

The pin is not the gate.
Rounded from the start of the organiser-linked course map. This is not a surveyed gate, parking space or permitted vehicle approach. The finish is at Birkebeineren Ski Stadium in Lillehammer; confirm final 2027 access.
Participant bus booking is due to open in January 2027. The linked timetable is still for 2026; do not plan a 2027 connection from it. Confirm current local shuttles and separate start/finish logistics before travel.
The organiser-linked interactive map shows the route and service layers, but its revision is from March 2026. It is planning context, not final 2027 route approval or current snow, parking or accessibility. Its ascent differs from the race page’s previous-edition figure; no definitive ascent total is given here.
A complete step-free spectator itinerary and individual assistance arrangements have not been verified. Ask Birken before travel, use designated access and keep the course clear.
The race page contains conflicting reseeding deadlines and bib-location change dates. Confirm your actual deadline and collection place directly with the organiser.
